Daily Inspiration: Meet Christy Kyte

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christy Kyte.

Hi Christy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was a sophomore in high school, I broke my collarbone playing rugby. I kept going to games to support my team, and my friend lent me his camera to take a few photos of team. From that, I fell in love with photography, leading me to buy my own equipment and start Christy Kyte Photography in 2024.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been hard. I’ve dealt with an inconsistent customer base, equipment issues, and so much more. It was also hard for me to find my style of editing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a photographer specializing in sports and portraiture. I’m known by people for my reliable work and creativity. I’m most proud of the fact that I started my business and taught myself everything I needed to know about photography. What sets me apart from others is that I am a student-athlete and CCP scholar alongside being a photographer.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Just go out and shoot! The more you shoot, the more confidence you get. Also, find your editing style and make art that you like, not what others want you to like.
