Daily Inspiration: Meet Charlie Karnage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlie Karnage.

Hi Charlie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Honestly, my dad was a huge influence in me getting into tattooing; we always went to tattoo shops when I was younger. When I got older, I started tattooing and worked at a lot of bad local shops. Eventually, I wanted to do better after meeting an artist named Denny, so I worked on progressing and became I‘m an award-winning tattoo artist. I owned a street shop for several years, but eventually, I wanted to open a more upscale all-custom studio, so I opened Apothic Ink to focus more on the art 

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There’s always struggles; I’ve worked with drug addicts in terrible shops, been robbed, had a partner rip me off, opened a studio that turned into a low-end street shop due to some poor hiring decisions I made. All kinds of stuff, but I’ve finally landed in a nice new studio with like-minded artists who always want to make something better than last time, and that’s all I really want 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a black and grey dark art realism and surrealism tattoo artist. I own apothic ink, and I have 3 other artists 

What are your plans for the future?
I can’t wait to do more conventions with my new team! I want to do a lot more traveling this year now that I don’t have to babysit any other tattooers lol
