Hi Chantel , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey with music started in Cincinnati, OH, where I grew up surrounded by it. My mother was in an R&B group before I was born, and hearing her stories made me fall in love with the idea of making music. What truly inspired me was how effortlessly artists could hold a note while expressing emotions in a way no one else could. Over the years, I’ve worked to develop my own sound—one that blends confidence, class, and authenticity. The biggest challenge has been staying true to myself in an industry that often tries to define you. But I embrace my versatility, and that’s what makes me unique. Now, I’m working on my next album, set to release late summer/early fall, and continuing to grow into the artist I’m meant to be.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but every challenge has shaped me into the artist I am today. One of the biggest struggles has been truly defining my identity in an industry that often tries to box artists in, especially as a woman, where image can sometimes take priority over artistry. While I embrace my beauty and confidence, I also value class, versatility, and staying true to myself. Another challenge has been navigating self-doubt and the pressure to meet certain expectations. But through it all, I remind myself why I started, to create music that feels authentic and meaningful. As long as I stay dedicated and trust my journey, I know I’m on the right path.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an independent R&B artist, songwriter, and creative storyteller. My music blends soulful melodies with authentic lyrics, creating a sound that resonates deeply with listeners. I specialize in making music that feels real whether it’s about self-discovery, love, or personal growth.
One of my proudest moments so far is seeing how my music connects with people. Knowing that my songs can make someone feel understood or inspired is the most rewarding part of what I do.
What sets me apart is my authenticity and versatility. I don’t fit into just one box I embrace different styles, moods, and sounds while staying true to who I am. My goal is to create music that not only feels good but also leaves a lasting impression.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love about Cincinnati is its tight-knit community and rich culture. There’s a real sense of hometown pride, and I appreciate the diversity of experiences and people here. The local music scene is underrated, and I’ve found a lot of inspiration from the people and places around me.
On the flip side, one thing I’d change is how underappreciated some of the local talents are. The city has a lot of hidden gems, but sometimes it feels like the opportunities to showcase that talent aren’t as abundant as they could be. Despite that, I’ve learned to stay focused and create my own path, and I’m proud to be part of the Cincinnati music scene.
