Today we’d like to introduce you to Sylvia Austin.
Hi Sylvia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Here,s a little bit about my story. I
I was born and raised in Columbus,Ohio. I always had dreams of being influential, but I did not know how to become what I saw. I have been through a lot of ups in downs. But through it all my faith and trust in God helped me get to where I am today.
Because I have been through so much i wanted to help others avoid some of the pitfalls that I have gone through and by doing so I wanted to bring purpose to my pain and their pain also.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has never been smooth. I struggled with feelings of rejection, low self-esteem,and inferiority. I’ve gone through a lot of counseling, prayer and fasting to receive healing in the areas that were hindering me from walking in my true self. Sincerely,at the end of the day, I just wanted to feel loved(don’t we all?)
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Out of all of the pain, I was able to write a book called Broken on Purpose. It was my desire that this book would serve as a therapeutic journey for those who have been through seasons of hurt or disappointment. It was my desire that they would one day be able to make sense of it all. Moreover, that it would serve as a tool to empower them to live out their full destiny and maximize their potential.
In addition to writing a book, I also operates as a life coach to many which is why I went to school to earn my master’s degree in Business Psychology, which specialized in life and career coaching.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice for any new authors or life coach is to be authentically you. Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable in your writing and in your coaching. People need to feel something that is real.
They are tired of counterfeits. In addition, you do not have to be perfect before you start the journey. because the journey itself is a part of your healing process for you too.
