Conversations with Stephanie Rousseau

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Rousseau. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Mrs. Stephanie Rousseau, Owner / Licensed Baker 

Stephanie Rousseau began baking with an Easy Bake oven when she was 5 years old. Her love for baking and cooking grew over the years. Over 45 years ago, she began assisting her grandmother, Mrs. Scottie Dee Carter Green, with baking and cooking holiday dinners. Mrs. Scottie Green was an exceptional cook and baker. Everyone loved coming to her house for a home-cooked meal. They enjoyed eating her delicious dishes and desserts. Her food and desserts were loved by many and formed great memories to cherish for a lifetime. 

For many years she was encouraged to sell her cakes. In December 2019, her prayers were answered to move forward with the online bakery. Stephanie posted on Facebook: With guidance from God, I am stepping out on faith with the opening of Dee – Licious Pound Cakes. 

As a tribute to the legacy of Grandma Scottie Dee Carter Green, Stephanie named her business in honor and memory of her grandmother who is now in heaven. Stephanie believes when you serve someone food or desserts from scratch, you are serving them love and touching their soul. Many have expressed that eating her cakes has reminded them of a loved one who is no longer here or memories of family gatherings around the table. That is what Dee-Licious Pound Cakes is all about. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We opened 2 weeks before the world shut down for covid. We started out selling on Etsy, and we pulled back from promotion and advertising. With the unknown we limited our orders to local customers. As time passed, we began to promote outside of Ohio, and we were able to create a website and have a grand opening and ribbon cutting at the chamber office in October 2021. 

We were informed that it was one of the largest attended ribbon cuttings at the chamber. During the pandemic, we were also impacted by the rising costs of our premium ingredients. We pressed through the pandemic without having to increase our prices.

Other: This is my business ministry. It is more than poundcakes… business ministry for me. I believe when you serve someone food or desserts from scratch you are serving them love and touching their soul. Each cake can include a complimentary note card in an envelope. We also customize our boxes with their logos to enhance their branding and customer loyalty.

Our cakes have also been ordered for sympathy, bereavement, and repast and for weddings desserts, desserts, or bridal showers, employee appreciation, client appreciation, Holiday gifts and corporate gifting.
