Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Aksterowicz.

Hi Megan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Mediumship is something that I honestly just fell into from a professional standpoint. It was never my goal, but it’s where life took me. There is an innate quality to mediumship, and I certainly had many experiences as a child and they continued into adulthood. I realized that I had some sort of psychic or mediumship ability that I didn’t fully understand when my family started experiencing paranormal activity inside our home. From there I was able to work on developing my abilities and took every opportunity I could, eventually leading me on the path of starting my own business. My thought became, if I have to master this side of myself for me, then I may as well be sharing and helping others in this niche way too. I rejoined social media platforms, created a website and let word of mouth spread. Because I started more with the paranormal mindset, I was also happy to join the Rogues Hollow Paranormal investigative team to help other families feel safe in their homes. My philosophy towards mediumship is that I would love to see it become less mysterious and mystical, and better understood for the community resource that it can be.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am very fortunate to be able to say it has been a mostly smooth road for me, thanks in part to having wonderful mentors that showcased the ethics and work that go into mediumship. Moving through the stay-at-home parent season of my life and into building my own business has been an advantage as well, I’m about the least intimidating looking person out there! So even though I have many clients who came to me nervous about having a first-time reading, they’re sitting across from a person who looks like an ordinary mom. It’s helpful because establishing trust is probably the biggest obstacle in mediumship. Yes, I need my client to trust my work enough to keep their energy open–but I also had to learn to trust myself and what I was receiving from Spirit. During a reading I’m holding multiple conversations between my own thoughts, the non-livings’ thoughts, and the living person sitting with me. All of us need to have some basic level of trust, it’s the battery that makes the whole thing run.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a psychic medium and paranormal investigator, best known for mediumship readings, tarot readings, events and investigating with Rogues Hollow Paranormal Society. I’m most proud of the mediumship side of my business; it’s the most challenging aspect and not something that everyone can do, because while all mediums are psychic not all psychics are mediums. The very simplest way to explain the difference is that psychics work with living energy, mediums can connect with the dead. I’ve noticed that sometimes the living just need to hear from their loved ones in spirit one more time before they can really start to heal–and I find it incredibly rewarding to be the one to facilitate that conversation. What sets me apart from others in my community would be the diversity of what I offer within my work. Many psychics and mediums tend to find a specialty and stay in that lane. I found that I truly enjoyed and believed in too many things to limit myself to only reading tarot, or only doing paranormal investigations. I’ve even done a good bit of psychometry (or object reading)! Yes, there are the core things that I will always offer, but I do love when unique opportunities come up.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The dead still need the living. The living client may be the one who schedules and pays, but the non-living show up with their needs as well. I remind people all the time that ghosts or spirits are still simply people without bodies. They maintain their unique personalities, they tune-in to what their loved ones are doing, they try to problem solve and make post-humous apologies or corrections. I’ve encountered deceased neighbors during client readings that want to pass messages on to their own families, pets who still feel their family needs them, hilarious family stories that they want to make sure are remembered, even medical diagnoses. It’s wonderful to be able to see both the living and dead get happiness and even healing from being able to communicate again.
