Conversations with Julie Miller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Miller.

Hi Julie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself. 
I became a stay-at-home mom in 2013 when my oldest child was 2 years old. In 2014 I had my second son, and by the time he was one year old, we were starting to explore kid-friendly places in Columbus, Ohio! Getting out of the house often was a sanity saver for me at home with two young kids! 

I started itching for something to work on, and people kept suggesting that I write a blog! I figured that I was already getting out and exploring; now, all I had to do was write about it! Luckily, my husband designs websites, so that obstacle was easily overcome! 

I called my blog What Should We Do Today? Because that’s what I found myself asking every day! I started shared my first blog post on social media in January of 2016, and the rest is history! 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I started blogging, I really had no idea what I was getting into! I didn’t really have any long-term goals or any idea where it would take me! It was difficult to put myself out there at the beginning! My heart would be pounding each time I posted something on social media for the world to see! But with practice and positive engagement, that became easier with time. 

The whole experience has been filled with learning curves! There is always something changing when it comes to blogging, social media, and SEO! I have learned a lot along the way, and I have to stay flexible and adjust when things change. 

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I write a blog called What Should We Do Today? Columbus, Ohio. I cover a lot of family-friendly things to do in Columbus, Ohio, Columbus food and coffee shops, and road trips from Columbus, Ohio! I also run several Instagram accounts, including @whatshouldwedotoday_cbus @ohiotravelideas @whereshouldweeat_cbus, and @614parks on Instagram. 

I am known for collecting a weekly list of family-friendly events happening each weekend around Columbus, Ohio, called What Should We Do This Weekend? I have many readers who check my blog like clockwork to plan their weekends! 

I am most proud of the fact many people have told me they have gotten so many ideas of things to do around Columbus from my blog and social media accounts! I’m so happy that I can help families get out and explore the great city of Columbus! 

Any big plans?
My plans are to continue to provide inspiration for new things to do around Columbus and Central Ohio! 

As my kids get older, I am expanding my coverage beyond family-friendly things to do to things for all ages and stages! My family is also continually exploring Ohio, so you will see more road trip ideas on the blog in the future!
