Conversations with Hope Randall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hope Randall.

Hi Hope, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Now licensed for 10 years it’s crazy to think of where my career has led me. I started in a Mall salon charging $15.50 for highlights. From there slowly working my way up from hourly to commission, moving up in Salons.

I was around 4/5 years into my career when I took my first leap into Independence as a stylist, the night before my first day my family was torn apart resulting in my divorce.

I continued for 7 months until I made the best decision I could for not only for my career but my family as well. leaving my chair and going back into the corporate salon.

During this transition, I was able to fully focus on my family which has always been my top priority, as well as still take care of my clients. From there I slowly rebuilt myself, still growing and learning along the way.

Fast forward, leaving an abusive marriage and several toxic salons I finally became my own boss. I now, 3 going on 4 years have owned a successful and ever growing business established on creating nontoxic space, healthy and respectful communication, intentional connections and most importantly building woman up on the phrase COMMUNITY over COMPETITION.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Personal and professional life has been a roller-coaster. I think being in the midst of your career and having your life completely unravel is truly not anything anyone prepares you for.

Having to re-connect all the pieces of your life on top of starting a business as a single mom of 3, has come with its challenges. If there is one thing I have learned it’s how grateful I am for every one of those, especially the hard seasons that almost broke me. See it’s through those times that I needed to grow and learn to recognize the life I’ve been given.

I’ve gone through a portion of my life having constant battles as well as seeing the bad… I’ve learned to recognize where I am, but understand it’s not who I am. We create our lives, most importantly our minds create our reality. Everything happens for a reason and it’s up to us to either see the good or let the bad continue. I choose to be grateful for my past, but not live in, as well as grateful for my future knowing what I deserve. While living in the present moment knowing what I have.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a proud independent female hairstylist, that has owned my own business for 3 going on 4 years now. I specialize in low-maintaince, lived-in balayage color. I’m known to be the Blending Queen in Cincinnati. I love to create beautifully blended hair that can grow out seamless for 6+ months. I always try to incorporate a woman’s natural hair. taking in her face shape, eyes, etc to help achieve a look personal and fitting just for her.

Taking modern hair to the next level. I believe, we, as women have enough in this life to handle, we should feel confident with our hair all year round WITHOUT budgeting for it, or being consumed with being in the salon. I create looks for women that give them just that. They see me once maybe twice a year and are in love with their hair all year round all while growing it strong and healthy as a top priority. I use Vegan and cruelty free Kevin Murphy.

I LOVE to educate other stylists on up to date color techniques as well as empowering them in their careers. I have a strong passion for lifting other woman up especially in our community. COMMUNITY over COMPETITION really is that in itself. It’s setting aside our egos to uplift and inspire. To use our platforms and talents to really make a difference in the lives in our community through intentional connections. I believe the future holds a beautiful spot for this in our city!

How do you define success?
In the time you spend – There is always a price and you can never get it back. I believe how you choose to spend your time reflects your values in life. Typically we value money and things. But choosing to spend your time with someone shows them how important they are. I value this most importantly with my family. My children have always been my top priority even before my business. Having my kids be happy and healthy is the success I choose to work towards. As well as my time spent with my guests in my business. creating intentional connections with them. Listening to them, really makes them feel appreciated and valued in my life. When our guests feel loved, respected and appreciated they want to support us more.
