Today we’d like to introduce you to Grissell Daniels.
Hi Grissell, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my business journey in my 40s when most of my children had gone off to college and I no longer had kids at home. I wanted to stay busy, find a creative outlet, and do something that brought me joy. Arts and crafts had always been relaxing for me, so I decided to turn that passion into something more.
My journey began with learning how to make custom T-shirts. I spent time mastering layering techniques, vinyl applications, and sublimation printing. As my skills grew, I expanded into creating personalized tumblers and woodworking projects. I loved seeing a simple idea transform into a beautiful, customized piece that brought happiness to others.
Over time, I discovered a passion for event decorating. I was fascinated by how an ordinary room or venue could be transformed into a breathtaking space for special celebrations such as quinceañeras, weddings, birthdays, and baby showers. The ability to create memorable experiences for families inspired me to learn more about event design and décor.
That passion eventually led me into balloon artistry, where I found another creative way to bring events to life. From elegant balloon arches to elaborate displays, I enjoy using my creativity to make every celebration unique and unforgettable.
What started as a way to keep busy has grown into something much more meaningful. It has allowed me to express my creativity, continue learning new skills, meet amazing people, and help families celebrate some of the most important moments of their lives. Every project is an opportunity to create something beautiful, and that is what continues to motivate and inspire me every day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of my struggle was confidence. It was intimidating to put my work out there and wonder if people would actually like or buy what I created. I often questioned myself and compared my progress to others who seemed more experienced or established.
Time and balance were also difficult. Managing learning, practicing new skills, and trying to grow a small business while still handling daily responsibilities required a lot of patience and discipline. There were moments when it felt like progress was too slow or not happening at all.
Financial investment was another hurdle. Supplies, equipment, and materials can be expensive, and starting out meant making careful choices and sometimes working with limited resources. I had to learn how to start small and gradually reinvest into my craft as I improved.
Despite all of these struggles, each challenge taught me something valuable. Slowly, I began to gain confidence, improve my skills, and see real progress. What once felt overwhelming became manageable, and every small success reminded me why I started in the first place.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’d love to share more about my work and what I do. I specialize in custom crafts and event décor, bringing creative ideas to life through personalized designs. My work includes custom T-shirts using sublimation and vinyl layering, personalized tumblers, woodworking pieces, balloon art, and full event transformations for celebrations such as quinceañeras, weddings, birthdays, and other special occasions.
What I’m most known for is my ability to take a simple space or idea and completely transform it into something memorable and visually stunning. I enjoy creating themed environments where every detail comes together to tell a story and make a celebration feel truly special.
What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come starting from scratch, learning everything step by step, and building confidence in my creativity and skills. Seeing clients’ reactions when they walk into a decorated event space or receive a custom-made piece is incredibly rewarding and reminds me why I started.
What sets me apart from others is the personal touch I put into everything I create. I don’t just focus on making something look good—I focus on meaning, detail, and making sure each project reflects the personality and vision of the client. Every design is customized with care, patience, and creativity, ensuring that no two projects are ever the same.
At the heart of my work is passion. I genuinely love what I do, and that love shows in every piece I create and every event I help bring to life.
What matters most to you? Why?
what seems to matter more to me isn’t just the final product—it’s the meaning behind it and the impact it has on people.
Yes, the creativity, skills, and technical work matter. But the deeper thread running through everything you shared is this: you care most about how your work makes people feel.
When I talk about transforming a space or creating something custom, the real highlight isn’t the materials or techniques—it’s the moment when a client walks in and feels surprised, seen, and emotionally connected to what you created. That reaction tells you your work did more than decorate a space; it helped shape a memory.
So what matters more to me is
* Connection over just creation
* Meaning over mass production
* Personal impact over convenience or speed
* Storytelling over decoration
And why? Because I didn’t start this just to “make things.” I started it, learned it step by step, and built it from scratch in a way that reflects my own growth. That makes my work personal. So when it resonates with someone else, it reinforces something deeper: what I create has value because it carries intention, care, and your own journey in it.
To summarize…
What matters most to you is creating meaningful experiences that people remember—not just beautiful things they see for a moment.
