Conversations with Danielle Swartz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Swartz.

Hi Danielle, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I opened Village Made in 2017. What started as a creative outlet for me as a stay-at-home mom morphed into the means through which my husband and I raised money for our (attempted) domestic adoption in 2018-2019. In a very short period of time, the community that supported Village Made grew beyond all our expectations. Though the doors to domestic adoption ultimately closed for us, I was very aware of the fact that I still had over 20,000 like-minded individuals following my brand that believed in the importance of supporting women and children in need. Now, in 2022, Village Made is a brand that’s focused on pointing others to Christ while donating 15% of every sale received to organizations and facilities that align with our core beliefs.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Logistically, I’ve had growing pains that I think every business owner experiences. My biggest setback came after our domestic adoption failed. For several months I struggled to find purpose with my brand and, at one point, considered closing for good. But once I came out of the other side and realized the good that could still come from moving forward, there’s been no looking back.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I screen print apparel for women and children. I also offer my art on glasses, stickers, wall art, and keychains – though my apparel is what I’m most known for. I believe Village Made as a brand is most known for giving back to organizations and facilities that support women and children in need. I choose a different organization each month, and 15% percent of every sale I get goes to whatever specific organization/facility we partner with that month.

What makes you happy?
My family makes me most happy. Sharing the Gospel with others through my art makes me happy.
