Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Cox.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Auctioneering is more than just my career—it’s in my blood. I married into a four-generation auction family, and I’ve embraced the tradition with a modern approach, specializing in all types of real estate auctions across Ohio.
With a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Southeastern University and a graduate of The Ohio Auction School, I combine hands-on expertise with a strong business foundation. I’m an active member of the Florida, Ohio, and National Auctioneers Associations, and currently pursuing the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) designation—the highest credential in our profession.
Before diving fully into auctions, I worked in real estate finance and mortgage lending, which gave me a deep understanding of property value and buyer behavior. I also leverage social media marketing to drive more attention to every listing—because the more eyes on a property, the better the results.
I live this auction life with my amazing wife Emma and our two young kids. Whether you’re selling a waterfront home or a rural estate, I bring energy, integrity, and results to every auction.
If you’re curious about how auctioning your property could work for you, let’s talk.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I didnt grow up from in money. My parents were mixed up in bad things when I was a kid. They split up and things actually got a ‘little’ better. However, I still grew up in a split and broken family dynamic. I lost my mom in 2010 to cancer yet God blessed me with another. I just knew I had to do more so I focused on my faith, education and community involvement. I am always looking to progress my career in that I can earn enough to take care of my family and maybe even earn some time back along the way. I do love what I do and the people I do it for. The journey to today was loaded with setbacks and hurdles, but I am proud of my life today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an Auctioneer with a focus on real estate. I am known for my likable and relatable personality. Those who know me and have worked with me know that I work really hard, and truly like to overachieve. I’d like to think that I do more for my clients in the sale of their property at Auction than anyone else in the industry in my area.
I recently achieved the Highest designation in my field ‘CAI’, a three year extensive program completed at Indiana University in Bloomington where the Hoosiers play. It may just be my highest and most proud achievement of my career. Somewhere between 1-2% of Auctioneers hold this designation.
What separates me from a lot of other folks is truly the love of Jesus in my heart. I love people and I think it shows in my conversations and in my knowledge, ethics, and hard work.
I was meant to be in the people business and this career gives me that first hand experience.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I married into a legacy business. My brokerage is owned by one of my bests friends who just so happens to be my father in law. He spent 35 years building the brand and I intend to continue building that brand and legacy for the next generation.
