Conversations with Chonlada Gesaman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chonlada Gesaman. 

Hi Chonlada, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Since I was 15, working in a vegan restaurant in Thailand, I always have this vision of owning a restaurant one day. At 17, I owned a street food cart selling noodles. At 19, I had 2 smoothie places located one in local college and another in marketplace. 

Then after I arrived here in the US, while I was making a living, my desire of opening a restaurant have never died. So, when my kids went to college, I sold my house to open this restaurant. About a year later, I had to sold my condo in Thailand to keep this restaurant running. 

My passion about having a restaurant is to show people/community to taste the authentic Thai Food and to know our culture through our food. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Never been easy. Worked day and night to keep this place running, especially during pandemic time and all that. Even with the prices going up every day for our supplies, we still keep our standard of quality of fresh vegetables and all the ingredients that make our food stand out to be Authentic. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I used to work in a restaurant since young and in a food environment throughout my life. 

How do you define success?
Success doesn’t mean just making money to me. It’s about passion, compassionate to others. Sharing what you have in ways that you can.
