Conversations with Brittany Vink

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Vink.

Hi Brittany , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve only ever been interested in art and design so I knew from a very young age that my future would involve this in some type of form. My undergraduate years were spent drawing and painting which then led to fashion design and interiors in my professional life. I really believe all these steps guided me to where I am today and has abled me to see the full picture of a space. I currently work with clients across the U.S. to transform their interiors along with a lifestyle and home website dedicated to collected found pieces and limited release artwork. All of these interests have been with me for years and now can work together in a harmonious way.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My design journey has been slow and steady while always developing. Art and interiors surround us at all times and play an important role with how we feel each day. For designers and artists to find new clients we need to show the public that art and design is a positive investment for their daily lives.

Marketing myself and my work to share my skills has always been a struggle for me. I live my life for the most part very quiet on social media. I know this is one of the most beneficial tools to use, but I still find myself detaching more than I probably should. This remains as a constant goal and reminder for growth.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in interior design with a side focus of creating one of a kind art and sourced collected vintage pieces. Being able to provide an all in one design from large concept to fine details makes for a really fun process and brings intention to the space.
Layering my designs with that perfect found piece or custom art and furniture is really where the design starts to shine and builds character. I believe this is what sets me apart from most designers.

My favorite project to date is our rental, The Old Mountain House, in Leelanau Peninsula. The area itself is magical and the cabin was the perfect setup to create a modern oasis with roots to nature. We used minimal furnishings and kept the color palette in natural hues for a calm setting. All the artwork is either vintage or custom by myself and the photography reflects the local area. Found pieces are placed throughout the design to ground the modern look and make it feel collected. We also incorporated many custom furniture pieces and light fixtures to ensure the space felt truly unique. We hope that our guests appreciate these special touches during their stays.

After this project I started my website for Lifestyle & Home in order to share these pieces to others. You can shop my home collection for limited release artwork or to find that perfect collected piece. Design inquires are also accepted here also!

What’s next?
My next focus for Brittany Vink Design is to expand my offerings for home by adding more bespoke furniture and array of custom artwork. I’m always excited to source and create, so having the space to share my work is very important to me and something I don’t take for granted.

Along with that I’m looking forward to taking on future design projects by helping to make those dream spaces become a reality for others.
