Conversations with Briana Barnett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Briana Barnett.

Hi Briana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Ever since I was a little girl, I have always had a passion for fashion. From playing dress up to eventually taking sewing lessons to sewing my own clothes, I adore  every aspect of fashion. As I got older, I thoroughly enjoyed bargain shopping and creating unique outfits. Everyone around me always asks for styling advice or where to get cute, yet affordable clothes. I knew I wanted to somehow share my love for fashion with others, but I didn’t know where to start.

After the encouragement of close family and friends, I decided to turn my Instagram into my personal brand, Being-Breezy. The name of my Instagram came from my childhood nickname-Breezy that stems from CoverGirl’s signature line, “Easy Breezy, Beautiful CoverGirl”.

August 2020, I started taking Instagram more seriously by sharing fashion, faith, and lifestyle posts. As a result, I have been able to grow my following and engage with other influencers. I have been able to work with Tazikis and Homerama this year, which was a huge accomplishment for me since I am a Cincinnati native.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My time as a content creator/influencer has not been filled with many struggles but there have been a few. Self-doubt has definitely been one of them. When I began, I didn’t know how my content would be received since I was turning my personal Instagram to a fashion, faith, and lifestyle page. Initially, I really didn’t think my content was that great but as I started posting more, I soon realized that so many people are inspired by not just my fashion but also by my faith-filled messages in my captions. Now that I’ve received so much positive feedback about my Instagram, I don’t really doubt myself. I’ve realized that my content is not only creative but is also inspiring to others.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a fashion, faith, and lifestyle influencer who never really believed in focusing on just one niche. There are so many different things that I love and am extremely passionate about. I am a registered nurse and a FNP student rooted in Christ and fueled by my faith & fashion. I wanted to create a space where my passions were combined. To me, Being-Breezy does just that!

I would say I’m most known for how well I’m able to style outfits from affordable stores along with old pieces in my closet as well as from my fashionable mother’s closet. Most of my outfits come from reasonably priced stores such as Nasty Gal, TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack, ASOS, Zara, and Forever 21.I am able to style pieces in such a way that it looks like luxury fashion but it’s far from it. I’m a firm believer that it’s not about how expensive an item is but it’s all about how well you style it.

What sets me apart from others is that I create content that not only features unique fashion looks, but also includes my faith and love of God. I have always enjoyed being able to inspire and encourage others to live out their God-given calling and tap into God’s blessings. I like to think of my captions as an aide to fueling others’ faith in God. My captions captivate audiences and leave them feeling empowered and rooted in Christ.

While I’m a relatively new influencer, I am most proud of the community that I’ve built on Instagram. I have met so many warm spirited and kind people. I truly enjoy engaging with my supporters via comments and in my DMs.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Pursue your dreams even if you are fearful or feel inadequate.  I know this sounds simple; however, this phrase has really helped me follow my dreams. For years, I always wanted to be an influencer/blogger but I was afraid to start. I didn’t have a massive following nor did I post frequently on Instagram. Last August, I decided to just go for it and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I had to realize that it wasn’t enough just to dream about it, but I had to go for it — plan and execute.

Another lesson that I’ve learned is to believe in myself and my God-given talents. We are often our own worst critics and are way too hard on ourselves for no reason. I had to realize that I was so incredibly talented and that it was time for others to see my unique gifts that God has blessed me with!
