Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Smart.

Hi Ashley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
A.Smart Designs started in the thick of Covid. What started as a stationary shop, quickly turned into a personalization shop. I went from making custom planners and journals to making custom t-shirts, hats, tote bags and more. I added in the option for embroidery and we have not looked back. I’m so glad I added embroidery to my shop. Its currently our main focus with a side of printed apparel and more.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a smooth road, but very slow moving. I’m almost positive it’s all God’s doing though so I’m in no rush to become more than what he wants me to be. I’ll wait for his timing because It has been an amazing journey so far.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m Ashley Smart the owner of A.Smart Design, a custom embroidery business where I specialize in turning everyday garments into meaningful, personalized pieces. I create custom embroidered apparel such as shirts, sweatshirts, varsity jackets, hats, and tote bags for businesses, teams, families, and special events. I also customize apparel with DTF/Vinyl, and sticker decals

One of my specialties is embroidered outline designs created from customers’ favorite photos. These pieces turn special memories into wearable keepsakes, which has become something many of my customers recognize my work for. I also work closely with other small businesses and organizations to bring their logos and branding to life through embroidery.

What I’m most proud of is the way my work helps people celebrate moments, represent their brand, and feel connected to something meaningful whether that’s a dance mom wearing her dancer’s silhouette, a business owner proudly wearing their logo, or someone memorializing a special photo on a garment.

What sets me apart is the attention to detail and personalization in every design. I take time to make sure each piece feels intentional and high quality, not just mass-produced. I also offer services like custom digitizing and live embroidery experiences at events, which allows people to watch their items being created in real time.

For me, embroidery is more than decoration it’s a way to tell stories through thread, and I love being able to create pieces people will keep and wear for years.

What’s next?
I look forward to taking my machines to more events to bring a live custom experience to others. I do have something huge launching this year and I can’t wait to share it.
