Hi Amanda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I am Amanda Hood. I am utterly passionate about getting to know my clients and having a keen vision for who makes the perfect match! I have been a college professor small business owner and consultant for the past 15 years. Equipped with superb communication skills and service techniques, my comfort is in delighting my clients. When you are happy, I am happy! With my ability to successfully guide my clients throughout this amazing experience, I have a “knack” for connecting personalities that complement one another. Having several long-term relationships, partnerships, engagements, and marriages under my professional belt, I understand what it takes to recognize a relationship that has the potential for longevity, particularly since I have been happily married almost 20 years, myself! I will help you feel comfortable enough to mention all the little “extra” things that make you you. And I am ecstatic to be able to make those “extras” shine through in your character! Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not! Of course, by the time a lot of single people decide to invest in matchmaking, they have already tried all the free stuff (such as the dating apps) and maybe even a couple low-level matchmaking services before they find me. So, many of them are experiencing feelings of depression, anger, and even desperation. It is my job to lift their spirits! They need to feel one simple feeling…hope.

I specialize in matchmaking, coaching (typically singles in their dating life, but I also coach executives), and mentoring, helping, and training other matchmakers. I am sure many people say this, but I am the most proud of being a mother (I have three teenagers), and I love that they get to see a strong, entrepreneurial woman, working hard every day to make others’ dreams come true. I know what sets me apart from other matchmaking companies is definitely the time I put into my clients’ dating journey. I am not just about one single introduction and then leaving my clients “high and dry.” I stay with them through three initial dates and then help curate a new relationship. Yes, it is certainly more work, but it is more likely to guarantee successful relationship launch. And ultimately, I am here to set my clients up for success!
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
Yes! Empaths tend to end up in a coaching or matchmaking arena. I love that. I started as a very intense empath, coming from teaching college. However, this is a dangerous road to be on as an empath. When you fall in love with your clients and take on their emotions, you cannot properly match for them because no one is ever good enough! You get stuck spinning your wheels. Even though there might be hundreds of great profiles in front of your face for your client, no one is good enough! Haha! I started learning the technique of “conscious empathy,” and it changed my entire matchmaking experience.
