Community Highlights: Meet Thomas Lillicrap of This and That’s Candy on Main

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thomas Lillicrap.

Hi Thomas, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started 5 years ago. I saw a need in our downtown and wondered what I could do to make downtown a little better. So, In December of 2018, we open the doors to This and That’s Candy on Main. Our business has grown passed our expectations. Our success comes from our great community and city as a whole.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Let’s face it, COVID-19 was a challenge. But running and small family business, you have challenges.

We’ve been impressed with This and That’s Candy on Main, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are known as the store that takes you back to when you were a kid. The retro candy soda and toys sets us apart from your normal retail stores. We try to bing that old-school feel to everyone that enters our doors. We are also known for our wide selection of saltwater taffy. We carry 84 flavors. Also, we carry 180 different glass bottles of soda.

What were you like growing up?
My store really reflects my childhood. My parents would always take my brother and I to the corner market and let us enjoy the candies. I was always told treat everyone the way you want to be treat and treat your town as you want your town to treat you.
