Today we’d like to introduce you to Tequila Cousar.
Hi Tequila, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey to becoming a personal branding coach was no accident. After 11 years of suffering from infertility, my husband and I miraculously became pregnant. The journey to becoming pregnant was very difficult. we spent thousands of dollars on infertility medications, received over 150 negative test and the amount of self-inflicted mental abuse I suffered during those years, took a toll on me.
I decided that I will no longer focus on it, instead, I focused on personal development. This led me to reading a ton of self-help books, losing over 65lbs and becoming pregnant. I was a full-time registered dental hygienist at the time and 10 years in my career, I was burned out and looking for a way out.
After giving birth to our daughter, my husband and I decided that I would be a stay-at-home mom, while he took on the financial load. This was hard, I was so use to having my own money. So I started doing network marketing, so that I could be a contributor in my home. Well, my little business turned into a big income and big rewards followed such as earned trips, rewards and monetary incentives. I gained these things but I knew that this wasn’t my calling. I wanted to create a space to express myself creatively and talk about my infertility journey, This led me to creating Facebook post.
So, here I was creating post and videos about how I overcame infertility but also how I was making money while home. I would post quotes and sayings that would pop into my mind, that were straightforward but so inspiring to people. People loved the inspiration that I was giving to them. So for 90 days, I did what was called “A Shot Of Tequila” and they were short videos with inspirational messages and I gained more followers, I knew I was up to something but I did not have a name for it. Now let me tell you, I am an introvert and an avid reader of self-improvement books. I can recall, when I was young, my mom use to drop me to the library which was located across the street from our house and upon her return, find me surrounded by tons of books and the librarians took great care of me. So my mother had an innate connection to who I was and who I was going to be. She knew I loved learning and helping other people, which by human design, I am considered a “life long learner”. That’s why I say that me being a coach was no accident. It was divine, I just had to catch up to becoming it.
After the 90 days, I gained not only fans but people who wanted to pay me to help them elevate who they were inside and out and make more money or start businesses. I didn’t know how to even start getting paid for this. So I enrolled in a six-week course, packaged my expertise and started making money.
And the rest is history. 😊
A shot of tequila has undoubtably has become an Intoxicating brand in itself. I am so happy my parents named me Tequila. Today, I continue to manage my own brand www.tequilacousar.com. I provide coaching and consultation services for female entrepreneurs, thought leaders and professionals who are looking to leverage their personal brand to grow their business or career.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been smooth at all!
I am an indecisive person, I overthink things and I had gotten stuck in the trap of comparing my journey to others. With social media and everyone showing up as experts, it was hard for me to figure out how to differentiate myself from others.
5 years ago, I became a Certified Life Coach and this made such a difference. This is how I differentiate myself from other Personal Branding Coaching. Through an introspective approach process, I tap into the real you- your authentic self- to define your personal brand, combined with personal development and then help you project it online.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I really don’t look at it as luck, I look at it as divine connection. If we live our lives with an open-mind, we will undoubtedly connect to our calling. So I always tell people, I was born with this gift, it just took me time to catch up.
