Hi Sierra, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It actually wasn’t my idea! I was living in Los Angeles and finished my associates degree in business management. Which was great, but also broad and didn’t really give me a direct path. A close friend mentioned becoming an esthetician as I’ve always had a passion for skincare and beauty. At the time I didn’t even know what an esthetician was, but figured I would tour Aveda and see what the program entailed. After practicing my first facial, I was hooked. I knew I had found my career. I became a licensed esthetician and started SM Golden Beauty in 2019. I recently became a registered nurse to scale my business into a medspa with a focus on corrective skincare.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth would be the opposite of entrepreneurship! There has been a lot of trials, errors and struggles, but I absolutely love my career and those struggles have helped transform my business into what it is today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At SM Golden Beauty I focus not just on skincare, but education as well. Skin care is overwhelming and I want each person that walks through my doors to feel more confident not just in their skin, but also making decisions regarding their skin. I offer a variety of services including Glacial, microneedling, dermaplaning, chemical peels and even an acne boot camp for those struggling with persistent acne. I’ve been a licensed esthetician for almost 6 years and a registered nurse for just over one year! I also have taken over 16 continuing education courses to stay up to date on products, ingredients. new techniques, etc.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I have been dabbling in skincare, makeup and overall beauty since I was younger. I was a cheerleader growing up and we used to compete – I think that was my first real experience in the “beauty world”
