Today we’d like to introduce you to S.R.D. Harris.
Hello S.R.D. Harris, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always been a reading fanatic! Ever since I was a young child and was featured in two children’s books, I have dreamed of becoming a Published Author. Through hard work and determination, I achieved that dream when I wrote and published my first book, “Future Miss President”. I co-write with my youngest daughter, and we currently have 5 Children’s books published and 3 more in production.
Our mission is to write and publish high-quality, uplifting, empowering, and Diverse Children’s Books that will inspire a love of reading in all children! I have been featured on PBS/WOSU’s Broad & High TV Show (https://bit.ly/3qX4ZE7) and in many publications to date. I was honored as a Literacy Champion by Read for a Cause in April of 2021 and am a 2022 Ohioana Library Festival Featured Author.
My husband and I have 3 daughters, and a rescued puppy named Gracie. Our 4th Book “Gracie’s Grace,” is in partnership with CHA Animal Shelter, to benefit their mission to help homeless dogs and cats find loving homes.
When we are not reading, writing, cooking or traveling, we enjoy volunteering and giving back. We have currently donated over 200 books to students all over Ohio and I enthusiastically volunteer with Reading 365 with the American Literacy Corporation. I believe all children can love reading if they connect with the right books for them.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Family Financial Management from The Ohio State University, but believe learning never ends!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
After spending years in the Pharmaceutical Industry and Retail Management, the transition to being a Published Author was a bit of a learning curve. I was able to successfully transfer many skills I acquired over the years and that helped me reach out for assistance in areas I was still learning about.
One big struggle was finding the perfect illustrator to hire. It took me 5 tries before I finally contracted with my illustrator for my first book, “Future Miss President!” I was bound and determined to bring this inspiring book to life and am so happy I did not give up!

We are a mother-daughter author team who write and publish high-quality, uplifting, and empowering children’s books featuring diverse characters. We are very proud to have positive messages in our stories that encourage a love of reading and empower children to dream big and believe in themselves.
We want our readers to use our books as tools for daily reading, improving their self-esteem, learning new things, and challenging themselves daily. Our Mission is to assemble a Tribe of booklovers who help us spread JOY through our positive books!
