Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Feilon.
Hi Nicole, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised on my family farm in Knox County, Ohio, where we raised sheep and cattle and ran a grain farming operation. I grew up participating in 4H and FFA and showed broiler chickens and market hogs at the Knox County Fair.
In the 6th Grade, during career exploration day, I found what I was certain would be the career path I would choose, a lawyer. After graduating from Fredericktown High School, I began the pursuit of making my childhood dream a reality. I began my journey at the Mount Vernon Nazarene University, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Philosophy Pre-Law. I was then accepted into the Capital University Law School, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with my Juris Doctor degree.
My love for agriculture began at a very young age, some might even say it was inherited. Being raised on my family farm, I was taught hard work and dedication. Those traits have brought me to where I am today and continue to be at the core of everything I do.
My love for law began at a young age as well. I started working at a law firm a few months after I graduated High School as a court runner. After about a year and a half, I was promoted to front desk receptionist until I left to start my law school journey. While in law school, I interned at a variety of different law firms, including a personal injury firm, estate planning and business law firm, and agricultural law firm. While working at these firms and others, I was able to build experience and to decipher what areas of law I wanted to practice.
Starting my own law firm has always been a dream of mine. After developing years of experience at other firms, Nicole Feilon, Attorney at Law, LLC. was developed nearly six months ago. We take pride in providing flexible availability, promptness, and authenticity and making our clients feel confident while making decisions about complex legal issues.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The main obstacle when creating Nicole Feilon, Attorney at Law, LLC. was starting from a completely clean slate. However, I began to look at this as an opportunity instead of a challenge. This allowed me to put my clients at the forefront of what I do because, after all, clients are the heart of a law firm. I wanted the ability to create a firm where my client was more than just a number. It is our mission to make our clients feel confident while making decisions about complex legal issues.
Another obstacle was not having a permanent office. However, we currently utilize a shared office space which allows us greater flexibility to work with clients all over the State of Ohio.
As you know, we’re big fans of Nicole Feilon, Attorney at Law, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
My practice areas include, but are not limited to, agricultural law, business and family farm succession, business law, elder law, estate administration, estate planning, landlord-tenant law, and real estate law.
Something that sets me apart from other attorneys is being open and available to my clients. I often meet with clients at times that fit their schedules rather than my own, whether that be in the evenings or on the weekends.
I am most proud that I have created an environment for my clients that is authentic and non-intimidating.
In 4 short months, Nicole Feilon, Attorney at Law, LLC, proudly serves 10 out of the 88 counties in Ohio.
What does success mean to you?
Success is defined differently by each individual person. Personally, I believe success is not tangible but a series of actions.
In law school, I volunteered at Pro Bono Legal Clinics. While volunteering at these clinics, I learned that my definition of success was being able to use my knowledge to help others navigate complex legal issues that they might not otherwise understand. When I left these legal clinics, I felt a sense of accomplishment, and I felt that I was making a difference in the community.
