It all started on a rainy day in a Kent State classroom. As I sat through a lecture, my mind wandered to how I could make a bigger impact—not just in nursing, but in empowering others through health education and encouragement. That’s when the idea for NurseMeggyD was born.

What began as a simple thought turned into a full-fledged business built around my passion for nursing, wellness, and authenticity. I launched NurseMeggyD as a social media platform to connect with others through real stories, evidence-based health education, and a bit of humor. I wanted to create a space where people felt seen, informed, and supported—whether they were fellow nurses, patients, or simply seeking encouragement on their health journey.

With consistency, transparency, and a desire to make a difference, NurseMeggyD grew into something bigger than I imagined. Today, it’s not only a platform—it’s a movement grounded in truth, compassion, and service. And this is only the beginning.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges I faced early on was stepping into the spotlight and putting myself out there on social media. As a nurse, I was trained to advocate for others—not necessarily to promote myself. But creating NurseMeggyD meant being vulnerable, sharing my passions, and opening myself up to public feedback, both good and bad.

At first, some people didn’t take me seriously. I was laughed at, made fun of, and told that posting about nursing or health online wouldn’t amount to anything. That kind of negativity stung, but it also fueled my determination. I knew I had something valuable to offer, and I refused to let doubt—or other people’s opinions—derail my vision.

Balancing nursing school, full-time work, and building a brand from the ground up was another big hurdle. But through every challenge, I learned resilience, time management, and the importance of believing in myself even when others didn’t. Every step of the journey, even the hard ones, shaped me into who I am today.
