Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathryn Schwab.
Kathryn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my career as a school psychologist, where I worked closely with children, families, and educators navigating learning and mental health challenges. That experience really shaped the way I communicate and connect with people, and it gave me a strong understanding of trust, clarity, and how overwhelming it can feel when someone is searching for help.
At the same time, I always had a strong interest in creativity, design, and entrepreneurship. Over time, I started helping businesses with websites and branding, and eventually launched Make It Count Creative Solutions, my web design business based in Springboro, Ohio.
Today, I primarily work with health and wellness businesses, helping them create websites that feel professional, approachable, and aligned with the quality of care they provide. My background in psychology naturally influences the way I approach web design because I’m always thinking about how people experience a website and what helps them feel comfortable enough to take the next step.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Building a business comes with a lot of uncertainty, and there were definitely moments where I questioned myself or wondered if I was doing enough. Like many business owners, I’ve experienced imposter syndrome at times and had to learn how to confidently put myself and my work out there.
I’ve also learned that running a business requires a lot of adaptability and resilience. There are always challenges, changing technology, slow seasons, and moments where things don’t go exactly as planned. But over time, those experiences helped me grow both professionally and personally. Looking back, I think every challenge pushed me to become more confident, more strategic, and more understanding of what other small business owners go through.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Make It Count Creative Solutions is a web design business based in Springboro, Ohio that designs strategic, approachable websites for health and wellness professionals that reflect the quality of care they provide. I mainly work with therapists, wellness providers, and fitness businesses on website design, messaging, SEO, and strengthening their online presence.
What sets my business apart is the combination of psychology, strategy, and design. Because of my background as a school psychologist, I naturally think a lot about how people feel when they visit a website. Many people searching for health and wellness services are already overwhelmed, anxious, or vulnerable, so I focus heavily on creating websites that build trust, feel clear, and help people feel comfortable taking the next step.
I also believe business owners shouldn’t have to figure everything out alone. Website projects can feel overwhelming, especially when someone is already balancing clients, patients, schedules, and everyday life. One thing clients often tell me is how relieved they feel finally having someone who can guide them through both the technical and creative side of the process.
Clear communication and thoughtful strategy are also a huge part of my brand. I take the time to understand not just what a business does, but how they want people to feel when they interact with their brand. That’s what helps create websites that feel more personal, meaningful, and effective.
As the business has grown, I’ve also been grateful to collaborate with supportive professionals like Mariesa, who helps many of our clients with social media management and content support. It’s been rewarding being able to offer clients more well-rounded support beyond just the website itself.
More than anything, I want people to know that I genuinely care about the businesses I work with. My goal isn’t just to create something that looks nice, but to help business owners feel confident, supported, and proud of what they’re building and the people they help.
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is creating work I’m proud of, building strong relationships with clients, having flexibility with my family, and knowing that the work I do is making a positive impact on what someone is building and the people they help.
I also think success is being able to keep growing while staying true to who you are. Entrepreneurship can easily push people toward burnout or comparison, so I’ve learned that success isn’t just about constantly doing more. It’s about building something that feels fulfilling and sustainable long term.
