Community Highlights: Meet Jake Shirley of Pressure Mate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jake Shirley.

Hi Jake, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
During the peak of Covid, while being at home, I knew that it was beneficial to myself and my family that I create my own business to support our needs. It was important that I was able to depend on myself and not anybody else for income to get through these times. After months of research and trial and error– Pressure Mate was created! What turned into hopes, wishes, and struggles of starting my own business, turned into a whole family operation that everyone loves to participate in. It could not have been better for my family and I to begin this journey!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. There have been many struggles along the way of starting Pressure Mate. Getting to the point where the business is today was hard and sacrificial for my family and myself. In this business, there are many obstacles such as trial and error of equipment and products, funds for startup, competition, and utilizing all of your time to make a business survive in hopes it will thrive.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Pressure Mate LLC?
Pressure Mate differentiates itself as an organization in many ways. As the owner of Pressure Mate, I think it is important to state that I was actually born and raised in Australia. I have worked my way up from the bottom in the mechanic/ automobile industry after moving to the United States. Creating Pressure Mate has given me the opportunity to assimilate into a different role in a different working category than I have ever experienced. This makes me want to work harder, provide excellent services and customer support, and give my best for my business and for my family.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
One of the most interesting lessons that I learned from the Covid-19 crisis is to be kind and compassionate to others. You never know what anyone is going through, so it is important to take a step back and realize that many are fighting battles we don’t know about.
