Community Highlights: Meet Jack Krusinski of 21 Hill Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Krusinski. 

Hi Jack, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I got into real estate while I was a freshman in college. I was swimming at Cleveland State University, where I was also a captain of the team, and I wanted to find a way to make money but also contribute to my future career. So, although being a lifeguard would have been a good college job, it wouldn’t give me strong skills that would contribute to my future career. I also needed job that was flexible with my swimming schedule (we work out for 20 hours a week and are gone for 2 weekends out of each month during competition season). Looked into different entrepreneur venture but real estate made sense to me. Having no job, little income, and no way to get a loan, I knew it would be hard to put together the capital to find a deal. But I was able to partner with my two brothers and best friend, and we pulled together our cash and bought a duplex. We fixed it up and rented it out. We did this a few more times but found out rather quickly that we needed another business that would generate more revenue. Rentals are grew but after expenses they only pay you a few hundred dollars a month. We then got into flipping real estate, and we still flip properties today. From there, we got our real estate license. Now, we flip around 10 properties a year (a business that my business partner focuses on), and I focus on being a real estate agent and growing our Real Estate Agent team. While doing all of this, we still buy rental properties. 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not a smooth road at all. A big issue we had is our main contractor at the time ran off with $12,500 and disappeared off the face of the earth. We had 2 flips going on with this contractor and had to scramble to one, come up with more funding, and two find another contractor. This really set us back but a very valuable lesson. 

We’ve been impressed with 21 Hill Real Esatate, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
21 Hill Real Esatate is a fully service real estate company. We flip properties, and we are also a team of realtors. Our realtor team, 21 Hill Team, is under the brokerage ReMax Above & Beyond. We are different from other real estate agents as we have bought and sold over 20 properties personally. So, we know 1st hand exactly what it feels like to buy and sell one of your biggest investments. We are also different is we will extend our Rolodex of contractors to our clients. Brand-wise, we our most proud of our strong reputation of doing what is takes to get the best property for our clients on the buy side (we go above and beyond sending our direct mail for our clients on specific properties they are looking for) and on the listing side we are known for getting our clients the maximum sales price with the best terms for their property. 

How do you define success?
In a professional career. Doing what you love with people you enjoy while helping others achieve their goals
