Hi Esther, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
If you would have asked me what job title would hold by the time I was 30, I would not have said CEO/Owner of a business. My passion for conserving our natural resources and protecting the environment combined with my disdain for mosquito bites is what inspired me to launch my business, Benesafe Solutions.
Getting bit by a mosquito on a summer night is never a good feeling. I was tired of getting bit up by mosquitoes despite using sprays, candles, and other devices that are supposed to ward off the pesky insects. I wanted to find a safe way to treat my property while keeping my dog, my friends, and the surrounding wildlife safe. After having trouble finding a safe product in local stores, I went online and started searching, I was shocked at the lack of natural alternatives in the market. With a background in Environmental Science and Biology, I did what any other scientist would do, research published papers on what natural ingredients work best at preventing pests. In November 2020 I came up with the business Benesafe Solutions. The name of the business comes from my dog, Benny, who we call our CSO, Chief Snuggle Officer. At Benesafe Solutions, we manufacture and sell natural pesticides with the idea that you can enjoy your outdoors pest-free while keeping the ones you love safe. Our products are a plant-derived alternative to traditional harsh chemical pesticides. Benesafe kills and repels fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes while being safe for pets, people, and the environment. Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As someone who has not been a business owner in the past, every day has a new challenge and experience. I rely on my own research, trial and error, and the advice of mentors to help me on my business journey. The support and guidance from others who are more experienced in business continue to help me immensely. I am forever grateful for the friends and family who support me by not only purchasing products but writing reviews and sharing the business with their networks. Being a business owner is challenging, but having people who support you makes it a little easier.
The toughest challenge as a new company is always getting your brand and name out there so people know who you are. It takes time and that’s what we continue to work towards.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was always friendly and curious. I took part in Girl Scouts and obtained my Gold Award by mentoring a troop of Brownie Girl Scouts whose mothers were incarcerated. From a young age, I was fascinated by the outdoors, recycling, plants, and animals. I enjoy helping others and seeing progress being made. I will always feel that my calling in life is to make the world a somewhat better place. I live each day with this quote in mind, “See that no day passes in which you do not make yourself a somewhat better creature.” I heard that quote in my adolescence and have carried it on in my adult life.
