Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Jasenski.
Hi Emily, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey started 25 years ago while I was in college getting my degree in Mass Communications. I met my now husband, and together we moved back to our small hometown where he pursued a career as a restaurant entrepreneur. I was commuting back and forth to college to finish my degree. So there I was, 22 years old, trying to navigate my senior year of college, family issues, and the stress of owning a business, which I knew nothing about. Needless to say the stress was taking its toll, and I soon developed a pretty significant anxiety disorder. At this time I was teaching Pilates at the local YMCA, and I really enjoyed teaching movement classes, but there was something missing. This is where Yoga comes in. I bought a VHS tape of a power yoga class, and started practicing in my living room. I fell in love! Between yoga (the physical practice and philosophy), as well as powerful self help books I was on my way to finding more balance in my life. It was during this time that I wanted to go through a yoga teacher training to become certified, and to immerse myself in the practice. Unfortunately, we had closed the restaurant so funds were just not there, so I was unable to do a training at that time. Instead I went to the city and stayed with a friend for 2 weeks where I took as many yoga classes as possible, sometimes 2 a day if not more.
It was several years later that I finally took a certified yoga training. At that time we were still living in our hometown, but by then we were married, and had our first son. Becoming a mother ignited something within me, an inner knowing that living a holistic lifestyle was something that was very important. I studied both western and eastern herbalism, I studied nutrition, and really anything holistic health related that I could get my hands on. After my husband started having health problems after the birth of our second son in 2008 he could not work, so I had to take my little part-time yoga studio, and quickly turn it into a full time business that could sustain a family of 4. For the next 10 years I taught yoga, and ran our studio where I taught teacher trainings, and became a yoga therapist. In 2016 I found myself ready for a change, and surprisingly pregnant with our 3rd child. We had the opportunity to sell the studio to one of my students, so we jumped on it. I said goodby to teaching yoga, and hello to being a stay at home mom. My husband and I switched roles, where he threw himself into building his design business, and I stayed home with our kids. After the first year at home I really started to feel isolated, and I wanted something to stimulate my mind. After listening to a podcast about Homeopathy I was deeply intrigued with this particular healing modality. I had used homeopathy in the past, an occasional cough syrup for the kids, or one of those little blue bottles that you get from the health food store. I had really know idea how it worked. After booking an appointment with the Homeopath from the podcast I was completely hooked. It was like something inside of me was pulling me towards this path, but I didn’t go lightly. First I enrolled in some introductory courses, and then finally the full training. I trained with world renown Homeopath and Naturopathic Doctor Dr. Robin Murphy, and I became a Certified Clinical Homeopath in 2022. That same year I decided to open a local office where I could help clients. I then added Medical Thermography to my services as there were no local Thermography Technicians within 100 miles of my hometown. My favorite saying is one that comes from the kids movie Robots, “See a need, fill a need”. Now, 3 years into my practice I have an office in both Osgood, and Tipp City, Ohio. I continue to work on educating people on the value of both Homeopathy and Thermography. Meanwhile I homeschool our now 8 year old daughter, I chase after our 2 teenage sons, and I enjoy continuing my education in Homeopathy. I love to practice and teach Qigong, sew, garden, and spending time with my husband. I also host yearly in person and online retreats for women.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There is nothing about my (our) journey that has been easy. Financially it has been a roller coaster ride. Whether it was yoga, or now homeopathy and thermography, nothing that I do is mainstream. There is a lot of hurdles around educating the general public about both modalities that I offer. Helping people to see the value has been hard, and insurance doest not cover either modality. Of course balancing life, children, and just basic daily survival is often a struggle.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Crescent Center ?
I am known for homeopathy and thermography. I have two office locations, both in Osgood, and Tipp City, Ohio. I also am able to do homeopathic consults remotely. I believe what sets me apart from others is simply that I offer very unique services that are somewhat difficult to find in my area.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck, I believe in synchronicity and destiny. For example, if you win the lottery I don’t believe that it was luck, but instead part of your life story, or destiny. I could write a book about the synchronicities and karmic paths that I have journeyed in both my life and business.
