Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Schilling
Hi Cameron, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been someone who loves staying busy, which led me to take an additional co-op position in college for fun during my Senior year. That role happened to be in office operations, and part of my responsibilities included corporate event planning. It was there that I discovered my passion for internal operations, including Event Planning, Finance, and Human Resources.
Fast forward to my current job, event planning naturally became part of my role, and through that experience, I connected with some amazing people in the industry. One of my close friends opened her own venue, The Opal Haus in Lawrenceburg Indiana, which I had the privilege of attending and assisting with events. During this time, I noticed a recurring gap in the photo booth rental industry – there was a lack of services that felt truly elevated, classy, and elegant. Things like paper props just didn’t match the vision I had for what a photo booth experience could be.
That realization sparked an idea. I quickly drafted a business plan and, within three days – before I even ordered my booth – I had three bookings lined up. It was the moment that solidified my decision to move forward. Since then, I’ve built The Archive Collection to deliver the kind of photo booth experiences that align with my passion for event planning and my belief in providing timeless, sophisticated moments for clients.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
To be honest, I’m still at the beginning of my journey, so it’s definitely a learning process. The hardest part for me so far has been navigating all the regulations and taxes that come with starting and running a business. It’s a side of entrepreneurship I wasn’t as familiar with, and there’s a lot to figure out.
If there’s an accountant out there who loves supporting small businesses, I’d love to connect because I’m actively looking for help in that department! It’s a challenge, but I’m learning as I go, and every hurdle is teaching me something new.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Archive Collection, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Archive Collection is a boutique photo booth rental service that specializes in providing elegant, elevated experiences for events. It’s not your typical photo booth rental with cheesy props or low-effort setups. Everything is designed to reflect sophistication, from customizable branded screens and photo frames to high-quality props.
What sets The Archive Collection apart is the focus on authenticity and style. Every detail is tailored to ensure the photo booth complements the event rather than feeling like an afterthought. Clients can choose from various customization options to reflect their event’s theme, and the service is seamless – from setup to takedown.
One thing I’m incredibly proud of is how The Archive Collection gives back. For every 4-hour rental, I donate an hour of booth time to a nonprofit or community event. Supporting my community is at the heart of this business, and I love being able to use my passion to make a positive impact.
This business was born from my love of event planning and my desire to support my community. Whether it’s partnering with local vendors to provide more options, creating affordable packages for nonprofits, or supporting minority-owned businesses, The Archive Collection is about more than just photos – it’s about creating timeless memories while giving back.
I want readers to know that The Archive Collection is here to elevate their events and take the stress out of creating unforgettable moments. It’s a service designed for those who want something refined, personal, and meaningful.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’ve always seen risk-taking as a necessary part of growth, both personally and professionally. To me, taking risks doesn’t mean being reckless – it’s about making calculated decisions based on the potential for reward. It’s not always easy for me, but I believe the greatest opportunities come when you step outside of your comfort zone.
Starting The Archive Collection was a big risk for me. Balancing a full-time job, in which I am fully investing my time and have recently joined the Leadership Team, while building a business meant I had to invest time, energy, and money into something with no guarantees. The early momentum I had gave me the confidence to move forward, but there’s always an element of uncertainty when starting something new.
I also think there’s a certain level of risk in staying stagnant. By not trying something, you risk missing out on opportunities or personal growth. For me, the reward of pursuing something I’m passionate about outweighs the fear of failure.
Risk is always a part of entrepreneurship, but I’ve learned to see it as a challenge to embrace rather than a roadblock. The key is to do your homework, trust your instincts, and remember that even if something doesn’t work out the way you hoped, there’s always something to learn from it.
