Community Highlights: Meet Bassel Bahhur of HomePoint Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bassel Bahhur.

Hi Bassel, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey in Real Estate began in 2005 at 25 years old. At the time my father owned several rental properties on the west side of Cleveland, and I hoped that getting my Real estate license would give him an advantage with his investments by managing the entire transaction for him from start to finish. I had no intentions of working with the public at first… Until I realized I was good at it and enjoyed doing it.

Fast forward to 2019, my longtime mentor of 14 years passed away and the sudden closing of the company prompted me to look for a temporary place to hang my hat while I got busy with my plan to start my own Agency.

After many years of hard work and preparation, I was able to successfully launch my own company, HomePoint Real Estate in January of 2021. What started as a one-man band in the spare bedroom in my home quickly grew into a team of 5 in our first office space in North Olmsted Ohio.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Just like with any other business, there will always be hurdles to jump. Real estate is always changing, whether it’s technological advances, laws, or just the state of the economy at the time. I would have to say that the toughest 2 business challenges so far may have been the real estate market decline of 2008 and surprisingly, the market boost of 2020 to the current day. Both struggles were exact opposites yet extremely challenging for Real estate professionals and our clients. I like the consider these challenges my “wax on-wax off” moments. They may not have been enjoyable at the time but they gave me the tools I need to solve problems effortlessly.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
HomePoint Real Estate is a full-service real estate agency located in North Olmsted Ohio. We don’t sell nor do we pressure anyone to purchase anything, and our clients can attest to that. We aim to share market trends and information to help our clients navigate the sale or purchase of their real estate property.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
The real estate business model is different than your normal business. As a newly licensed agent, you are interviewing the brokers, not the other way around. Do your research about that organization and its management, check out their social media pages, and read their reviews, you can usually tell from their customer reviews, good or bad… that they will more than likely treat you the same. Choose carefully.
