Check Out Troy Shealy’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Troy Shealy.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Our family has always been surrounded by people who understand the importance of honoring life from those working in human funeral care to those devoted to pet memorial services. Growing up in the quiet rural town of Bucyrus, Ohio, we shared our lives with nearly a dozen pets. Each one left a mark on our hearts, teaching us about unconditional love and, eventually, the emotional impact of loss.

Like so many others, our family was deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We both lost several loved ones, both people and pets and it changed the way we look through lens of life. Those experiences brought a new level of reflection and reminded us what truly matters: compassion, connection, and care.

Through those losses, my wife and I felt called to do something more and to be an advocate for families and pets facing one of life’s hardest moments. What many don’t realize is that there are gentle, dignified alternatives to saying goodbye in a clinical setting. That’s why we created a space where families can find comfort, peace, and understanding. A place where their beloved companions are honored with the same respect and love they gave throughout their lives.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We started this business from the ground zero right here in the heart of a very saturated Central Ohio market for pet after-life care services. After more than two years of work to find the right property and get all the necessary approvals, we finally opened our doors in March. Since then, we’ve been spreading the word one family experience at a time, focusing on pet advocacy and creating a meaningful pet memorial experience.

Our euthanasia services, offered both in-home and in our Memory Center, have also been a special focus. For many families, they’ve provided a deeply comforting and peaceful option when saying goodbye. We are literally changing the way families respond to the loss of a pet loved one and creating a bond for life.

The response from our clients has been incredibly positive, and we’re so grateful for the trust they’ve placed in us. We’re excited about the future and the opportunity to continue supporting more families through their individual journeys of loss and pet remembrance.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have spent over 25 years servicing and providing financial payments consulting support to enterprise companies across the United States. This exposure has allowed me to truly understand what a high level of customer service looks like and the impression/impact it has on clients. Listening to a clients concerns and meeting their needs is critical when asking for their confidence in building a professional relationship. It is this experience which my wife and I have been able to directly translate into our Paws for Life business and over exceed the expectations of our clients in a tragic time of pet loss. Meeting each families expectation while on their individual journey is our goal. Each and every loss is unique and our approach is customized to each and every family.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Starting this business has been challenging, and it’s taken the support of many specialists to get it off the ground. Be prepared for many highs and lows. We’ve stayed humble throughout the process and never hesitated to ask for help. For anyone launching a new venture, I’d encourage you to lean on others and stay flexible in your approach. We firmly believe that Success is a Journey and not a destination and we are just embracing the ride.
