Check Out Tina Cargill’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Cargill.

Hi Tina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been a hobby photographer for as long as I can remember! Think all the way back to the mini Polaroid film camera, disposables & then yes the mini digital cameras. I was always the friend with the camera. Flash forward my dad got me a Canon Rebel— if you know, you know! I was mainly photographing my children, trips, etc. then I started a personal blog is 2017 & began doing more brand collaborations and needing to provide high quality images. From there I had people reaching out & requesting me to photograph their family. Slowly, I began offering more & eventually grew into where I am today. I shoot a handful of weddings each year, families, brand shoots, seniors— all of life’s amazing milestones.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think the biggest challenge is building a name for yourself in the industry. Like anything it’s become saturated— so standing out & developing a strong brand takes time. Building trust with clients and colleagues has been my focus!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a wedding and portrait photographer. I specialize in weddings but am passionate about documenting all types of sessions. I am really proud of the editorial I planned in Paris last month. It was such an amazing once in a lifetime experience— an absolute bucket list shoot. I always say my super power is making my clients feel relaxed & comfortable in front of the camera. I love people & helping them enjoy the process is my favorite!

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
When I started out I reached out to a local photographer I admired & booked a mentoring session with her. She was so incredibly helpful & we still work together to this day. Don’t be afraid to slide into someone’s DM’s and ask for help! I’ve also joined different networking organizations to connect with local professionals.
