Today we’d like to introduce you to Thomas Joseph.
Hi Thomas, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I come from a family where the kitchen was the mingling and hangout spot during all holidays and events. As I became more aware of the food that I was putting into my body, as well as my family I knew that something had to change.
I’ve taken the time to learn more about healthier alternatives for some of the most popular food items in my family and community. There is more learning to do, however, it is my responsibility to spread the knowledge I have to others in my community.
Out of this duty came, “Flavors House of Breakfast”. We provide vegan options, while still maintaining the flavor we all look for in a breakfast sandwich. We open on July 18th and this is the first step in making my community healthier.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s never a smooth road for a black man in America, especially when you’re born into poverty. And in this poverty, I would say I’ve faced my greatest obstacle which was; staying focused on goals that could get you and your family out of poverty with little to no funding.
And to the kids and adults in my community that are asking how. The answer is by continuously learning, then applying, and never being afraid to fail because every failure is a lesson learned.

Outside of my entrepreneurial mind, I am also gifted with the talent to make music and other forms of entertainment. If you search, “Al iKon Unlimited” on YouTube you will see my work. Being able to be creative allows me to appraoach things like marketing in more unique ways.
So, I won’t just feed the bodies of my community with healthier alternatives, but their minds as well.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck. And to anyone in my community reading this, never count on luck, instead research and build it with your own two hands.
