Check Out Space Cadets’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Space Cadets. They and their team shared their story with us below:

The Space Cadets started as a student band at Case Western Reserve University about one year ago. It all started when Franco Krais, the singer, met Alexander Pallozzi, the drummer. Both are extremely passionate about music and spent a lot of time on it but felt a deep drive to create a sound they could call their own. Over time, they began collaborating and recording songs together, which they then showed to Andrew Gross and Lucas Tilford (both avid guitarists). Andrew and Luke fell in love with the lyrics, vibes, and sounds, and we quickly became a band. Franco had also recently met Juniper Duncan, the bassist, in New York. She quickly hopped on to the trend, and we proceeded to become the Space Cadets. The name came from our mutual feeling of “floating through space” when we rehearsed. Since then, we’ve performed all over Case Western Reserve and Cleveland in some of its most iconic venues and radios (including Grog Shop and the Impossible art store!). We hope to advance our music career and find new horizons for our performances.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As upcoming artists and students, we’ve struggled to find support to advance our brand to new levels. Despite having a consistent fanbase and performing at big venues, one of our biggest struggles was finding investment to carry out studio recordings, produce merchandise, or market our brand to higher levels.

Another big issue has been navigating the complex nuances of being a musician while having a full-time job. At times, it was incredibly hard to schedule rehearsals or shows, and we ended up missing some important opportunities because of it!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We’re an Alternative Rock band but have been creating somewhat of a new genre that mixes Rock & Roll, Alt Rock, 90s Hip Hop, R&B, and Blues. We’re most proud of our unmatched stage energy – our performances have a unique element of crowd interaction that we feel has been hard to find in the music we usually listen to or the artist concerts we attend. Our specialty is actually improvising – we are masters of creating a catchy sound from scratch and completely freestyling it.

How do you think about happiness?
What most makes us happy is to perform. We are genuinely empowered by the energy that our fanbase gives us, and it’s done amazing things for us. Because of the fanbase we’ve built through our performances, we’ve been able to get to know an entirely new side of the music industry that’s more related to branding, merchandise, and marketing. We’ve also gotten into bigger contact with big brands, who are more open than we thought to collaboration! For example, Arizona actually saw one of our videos on Instagram and decided to give us T-Shirts and some merch!
