Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Mahnulee.
Hi Samantha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a self-taught makeup artist who began my beauty journey in 2010, driven by a lifelong passion for art, creativity, and self-expression. What started as a love for makeup quickly grew into a career dedicated to helping others feel confident and beautiful.
After several years in the makeup industry, I expanded my expertise by becoming a licensed esthetician, allowing me to deepen my understanding of skin health and overall beauty. From there, I continued to grow my skill set by specializing in skincare, lashes, brows, and advanced aesthetic services.
Today, I own and operate a successful beauty business where I have had the privilege of serving hundreds of clients. I am passionate about continuous education, mastering new techniques, and sharing my knowledge by training and mentoring others within the beauty industry. My mission is to combine artistry, education, and innovation to help every client look and feel their best.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I started with limited resources and had to learn through trial and error. Building a business from the ground up required long hours, financial sacrifices, and a lot of persistence. There were times when I questioned myself, faced setbacks, and had to adapt to changes within the beauty industry.
One of the biggest challenges was wearing multiple hats…being the artist, marketer, educator, customer service representative, and business owner all at once. Balancing creativity with the realities of running a business was a learning experience in itself. I worked for a huge financial institution from 2010-2019 while operating my business and finally took the leap up quit and focus on my business in 2019.
However, every challenge taught me something valuable. Those struggles helped me develop resilience, sharpen my skills, and build a business that reflects my passion for beauty, education, and helping others feel confident. Looking back, I wouldn’t change the journey because it shaped the entrepreneur and professional I am today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a licensed esthetician, self-taught makeup artist, educator, and beauty entrepreneur. Over the years, I have built a business that offers a wide range of beauty and aesthetic services, including makeup artistry, skincare treatments, brows, lashes, teeth whitening, and permanent makeup. My passion lies in helping people feel confident in their own skin while enhancing their natural beauty.
I specialize in creating customized experiences and results that are tailored to each client’s individual needs. Whether it’s a corrective skincare treatment, a natural brow transformation, or a flawless makeup application, my goal is always to help my clients look and feel their best.
I am most proud of the relationships and trust I have built with my clients throughout the years. Many of them have been with me for years and continue to refer their friends and family, which is something I never take for granted.
What sets me apart is my commitment to continuous education and growth. I am always learning new techniques, expanding my services, and staying current with industry trends so I can provide the best possible experience. I combine artistry, technical skill, and genuine care for my clients, allowing me to deliver results that are both beautiful and meaningful.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that mentorship doesn’t always come from one person. Throughout my journey, I’ve learned from many different people…industry professionals, educators, colleagues, and even clients. Every interaction can teach you something if you’re willing to listen and stay open to learning.
My advice for finding a mentor is to look for someone whose values, work ethic, and career path align with where you want to go. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, attend trainings, invest in education, and put yourself in rooms with people who inspire you. Building genuine relationships is often more valuable than simply collecting contacts.
As far as networking, what has worked best for me is showing up consistently, supporting others, and focusing on creating real connections rather than looking for immediate opportunities. Many of the relationships I’ve built over the years have led to collaborations, referrals, friendships, and valuable learning experiences. When you lead with authenticity and a willingness to grow, the right opportunities tend to follow.
