Check Out November Palmer’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to November Palmer.

Hi November, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
High stress. A constant go, go, go. Worth being measured by productivity and the pressure to raise the bar after every achievement. These patterns are deeply woven into modern life and they were deeply woven into mine.

As a licensed social worker, I was supporting others through trauma, stress, and burnout while also navigating my own lived experience. As a plus size woman living with PCOS and a high stress job this experience of burnout with no release took over my life. Again and again, I heard the same thing from clients, colleagues, and friends: “Therapy helps… but something is still missing.” Or, “I understand what happened, but my body still feels tense, angry, stuck, or exhausted.”

What people were describing wasn’t a lack of insight, it was the absence of tools to release stress and trauma from the body, not just talk about it.

That realization changed everything for me. I began paying attention to what actually helped me feel grounded, safe, and present in my body; especially in moments when everything felt like too much. Yoga wasn’t about flexibility or perfect poses; it was about learning how to pause, breathe, and listen. So I started studying, learning, and weaving together my background in social work with trauma-informed yoga practices.

That is how Restorative Moonflower was born.

Restorative Moonflower is rooted in the belief that healing doesn’t require pushing harder; it requires slowing down. Classes are trauma-informed, gentle, and accessible, designed for real people with real bodies and real lives. You don’t need prior yoga experience, flexibility, or a certain level of fitness. You simply meet yourself where you are on the mat.

In class, we move slowly and intentionally. We breathe with movement. We learn to notice the body’s signals instead of overriding them. This is a judgment-free space where rest is encouraged, options and props are always offered, and choice is honored. The goal isn’t performance, it’s restoration, relaxation, and release.

I’ve had the privilege of teaching students of all ages and abilities: blind students, children, chair-bound students, people living with chronic stress, insomnia, fibromyalgia, those with trauma backgrounds, autisitic yogis and those seeking nervous system regulation, children with developmental delays, those in active recovery, and those navigating language barriers or cultural differences. Every body is welcome here. Every nervous system deserves safety. Every person deserves a space to exhale.

At its core, Restorative Moonflower is about finding yourself on the mat when everything else might feel overwhelming and remembering that growth can happen even in the darkest seasons.

It’s about blooming in the dark.

I have had an exciting year leading different styles of classes and events and look forward to what’s to come.

I am beyond grateful for every student who has trusted me with their practice since November 2024. It is an honor to hold space, to witness resilience, and to continue growing alongside this community. Thank you for practicing with me!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Most of the struggles happened before I started teaching. Too many messages from others saying I couldn’t teach, that I didn’t have the confidence or I was too big. I purchased my teacher training and then was discouraged by others but as I kept putting the work into myself I realized how important this idea of holding space and sharing the practice that helped me so much really was. I was able to let the voices of those others go and put the work in to finiah my 200 yoga teacher training. Since starting to teach the biggest obstacle has been navigating what types of classes to offer when during the week and in which community. I teach in different places in Wellington, New London, and Monroeville and have popped up all over Lorain county for events. It’s just part of running a business and another puzzle to solve.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In college I had a professor who used to say “just because you can doesn’t mean you should,” and “you are your asset.” Those two phrases stuck with me as someone who constantly tried to do it all be perfect…recovering perfectionist here, I could do it all but that doesnt mean I should because ill probably burn out.

I am my asset…not the photographs I take, the classes I teach, the self care products I make; me. This is huge. Its not about what I produce but that i show up to create or hold space or connect with others genuinely and with good intentions.

I am my asset. So I started sharing all the things that help me. Because life is hard, if we can help it be easier for someone, why not? This was why I started sharing my custom tea blends and self care products like bath soaks etc at local markets. Things that help my body manage PCOS and high cortisol. Things to help relax! (Ember’s Elixirs)

Ive done photography since 2006 amd had always focused on empowerment photo shoots. Creating a space where people felt comfortable to step into themselves. Now im just using all of my skills, mixing them all together to hold space and create products that help me ans hopefully others, feel more connected with themselves and capable of blooming in the dark.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Creative kid. Always reading, creating, drawing, painting, imagination running wild. Quiet. Only child happy to occupy myself.
