Check Out Mitchell Bienvenue’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mitchell Bienvenue.

Mitchell, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello, my name is Mitchell Bienvenue.

There are a few key moments that really define who I am today, and one of them happened six years ago when I was 20 years old attending The Ohio State University.

Before I get to that point, I am just a kid from Columbus, Ohio, who has always dreamt big and believed in myself.

I graduated from Thomas Worthington High School in 2015.

One of my early childhood dreams was to attend Ohio State University. After spending three years there, it was time for myself to follow another dream and go through with one of those key defining moments of my life. I dropped out of college and headed south to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to pursue the yachting industry.

I became a deckhand on a 50-meter yacht (164 feet) with 11 total crew from around the world. I spent a year-and-a-half in yachting traveling over 10,000 nautical miles from Newport, Rhode Island to the Bahamas and all around the Caribbean.

During my time in yachting, traveling, and experiencing the world, I documented my journey on TikTok and Instagram.

I continued my love and passion for content creation when I packed it all up and headed back home in the summer of 2020.

I now document my love for the great state of Ohio and my life experience living with Ulcerative Colitis. I am also a server and bartender at a private club and marina on Catawba Island in Port Clinton, Ohio. I am continuing to make content for my personal brand and “It’s Not All Black&White” (A podcast I co-host with my best friend.)

Our podcast description: “Life isn’t simply black or white, so Romain and Mitchell discuss all the gray areas of society, culture, and life itself.”

As I reflect on my life story, I am filled with gratitude for the people who have supported me and helped me become who I am today. While I am proud of all that I have accomplished so far, I know that there is more to be written. I am excited for the future and the opportunities that lie ahead. There are still chapters to be written, and I can’t wait to see what the next one holds.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life isn’t always smooth sailing. One of the hardest decisions I had to make for myself was dropping out of my dream school to pursue an industry I virtually knew nothing about. But making that decision was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life to this point.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My dream is to be able to create content full-time and make a living by monetizing it. In 2022 I made great strides into doing so, and I look forward to carrying the momentum through 2023. Building my personal brand and “It’s Not All Black&White” with my best friend is what I am currently working on. I currently create content around the topic of the state of Ohio and living with an inflammatory Bowel Disease. I have been fortunate to partner with businesses big and small on projects featuring the state of Ohio and also bring awareness to Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Ohio is beautiful and has more to offer than you can imagine! I love being able to shine a light on the established, the opportunity, and the potential Ohio has to offer!

I am also proud of creating content around Ulcerative Colitis and letting individuals who are battling IBD on a daily basis know they are not alone.

I am proud of the work I have put in up to this point that has gotten me to the position I am in, but I know I have a tremendous amount of work to get after for all that I want to accomplish in my lifetime.

I believe my unapologetic optimism I have on my view of world is what sets myself apart from others. I believe in the greater good of people, and that we need to shine more light on the good this world has to offer. We need to continue to connect and unite people. And I believe we need to continue to work together as one team to make this world a better place.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Although I create content around living with an inflammatory bowel disease, people may not realize I have Ulcerative Colitis if they don’t see that content come across their pages. Ulcerative Colitis is an invisible disease because it is not outwardly visible to others. You are not able to look at someone who is living with an invisible disease and see that they are dealing with many health issues that might be causing problems in their day-to-day lives.
