Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Jaimes

Hi Laura, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a 25-year-old Venezuelan photographer currently living in Columbus, Ohio.

Since I was a child I have liked photography, that’s why in 2016 (when I was barely 17 years old) I decided to buy my first professional camera.

I started taking photos of my friends and acquaintances and as the months went by, people got to know me and hired my photography service.

Thanks to this I have come to work with important companies in my country and in recognized events. I specialize in photography of events such as weddings and portrait photography. Likewise, my work has led me to learn all types of photography, such as gastronomy, sports and product photography.

My goal is to have my own photography studio and thus provide my services with more comfort.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been difficult because in my country (Venezuela) there were not enough resources and many people did not pay well for the photography service. The photographic equipment was very expensive and the money was not enough to update it or buy new ones. Even so, I kept going because what I love most is taking photographs.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Without a doubt I love creating a relationship with my client or with the brand I take photos of. I like that they get involved in the work and I create trust so that we can discuss opinions about the photos that will be taken and thus satisfy their requirements.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
One of my biggest inspirations is Natgeo and all its audiovisual productions. I also like all types of art, from music to acting. I also really like comedy because it relaxes me, I am a fan of going to standup comedy shows. One of my favorite photographers is @glopzz who does great work in his photography studio.

• 60 minutes session, 20 edited images, 2 outfits. – $150
• 75 minutes session, 25 edited images, 3 outfits. – $170
