Check Out Jason Covert’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Covert.

Hi Jason, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As kid I always wanted to own an automotive shop and it was always a restoration/hot rod shop. I have no clue how this got implanted in my brain but it was always there. Maybe it was from growing up on a farm and always being around things that needed fixing, I’m not sure. But anyways, I was a terrible student, never got in trouble but definitely did not want to be there. So I took Auto Collision my Jr and senior year of high school and that got my foot in the industry door. And really from there it was just work. I worked a full-time jobs for 15 or so years and had the business on the side. That allowed me to build my skill set as well as keep cash coming in and being able to slowly build the business. In 2022 the universe forced my hand with a series of life events that were completely out of my control and I knew it was time to make a change and I went full-time at the business. It was the scariest and best thing I have ever done.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Parts have been smooth. Parts have been really hard. You can’t have the good without the bad. The biggest struggle for myself as been the unknown. Is this going to work? How do I make this work? Having the confidence to keep moving forward when everything is going sideways. It’s challenging, but you do get better at it

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are an automotive shop that specializes in fixing old stuff. Actually fix things instead of just being part changers. We don’t build super showy stuff. We build fun drivers that are meant to be enjoyed, Or as we like to call them ice cream cars. Cars and trucks that you are proud to own and you can take your kids, grand-kids and friends out on Saturday cruise to the ice cream joint without fear of it getting dirty. We just don’t stop at cars and trucks. We have done a handful of tractor restoration over the years too. We do a lot of odd ball stuff, Stuff that most other shops wont touch because it’s hard or not cool enough. Everything we do here is hard and we like it that way.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Enjoy life. Do that project, eat pizza ,build that car, take a trip with your friends and family. The memories are worth more than the money in your bank account. Life’s not that serious. Enjoy it.
