Check Out Candice Zinner’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candice Zinner.

Hi Candice, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I found Halotherapy for my allergy symptoms worked well and love the idea of an ancient natural method. My husband and I wanted to offer a more natural approach to healing and relaxing. Helping people take a moment to relax, breathe, and detox in a stress-free environment away from electronics and the hustle of everyday life.

We started by visiting and researching anything salt. Wrote up a business plan, searched all around Northeast Ohio for the perfect location and landlord that would allow over 23,000 lbs. of salt into their building.

We then researched other natural ways to relax and detox the body and decided on an Infrared Sauna and Ionic Foot Detox.

We tell everyone that you have to try it to believe it! The salt is such a simple overlooked natural remedy for so many ailments.

Word of mouth is our biggest advertisement, clients refer their family, and friends to come back with them to try it!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
TWO DAYS before our ONE-year anniversary we were shut down for a little over two months due to covid. When we reopened it was and still is a struggle to get clients in the door. Our clients come to us with sinus and lung diseases. For a client who struggles with breathing diseases COVID can be a very serious, deadly disease for them to contract. We are seeing a small increase of these clients and they do love to be back getting that added relief. When you come to Salty you come to breathe in the salty microclimate air, so wearing a mask or having an underlying disease it can be difficult to get people back. I feel I am still in the constant hustle of come try us out and see how salt can be beneficial to you.

I say it has been the longest first year of business ever!!!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are the first salt cave in Geauga County and the first in Ohio to have a professionally built Graduation Tower.

Salty is committed to bringing healing and relaxation in a natural way. We have a 300 sq ft. Salt Cave with over 23,000 pounds of salt shipped in from Poland. Inside the cave you will find what’s called a Graduation Tower, the concept comes from Poland where they have an outdoor facility many stories high and use the salt brine from the mine underground to run down these birch branches creating a salty air experience like we get when walking the ocean. Feel the healing powers of the cave bringing purification and balance to your skin and respiratory system as you gaze into the peaceful starry sky breathing in the salt air. Lounge in zero gravity chairs nestled under cozy, weighted blankets while ambient music helps you drift off. 45-minute session for only $35 per person can seat up to 8 people at a time. Salt cave is known as speleotherapy is an alternative medicine respiratory therapy involving breathing inside a cave.

We also have an Infrared Sauna, Ionic Foot Detox, Salt Booth (Halotherapy). We have Christina who offers Reiki and essential oil detox and Meghan who offers facials and relaxation massage.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I was so lucky to have an aunt and uncle who own a successful business for over 30 yrs. help mentor my husband and I. We would have been so lost and possibly never opened without their guidance, knowledge, and support. Networking and building relationships can be scary but has helped us tremendously. Joining Chamber, Associations, and networking groups has helped grow our confidence and business.
