Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Curry
Hi Candace, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Boho Noir initially started as a capstone project in my MBA program. I created a space where I had intended to curate goods and art that were made by black and brown hands. Halfway through the program, I got a fibromyalgia, diagnosis that made it difficult to continue my coursework while working a full-time job and raising my two daughters. My diagnosis came from a chiropractor who often prescribed or advised on all natural treatments. What she was slowly teaching me was that my symptoms could be treated with different herb or supplement that she was recommending I take. This really got my creative juices and mind going as I had always had a bend towards the natural. I would get in trouble as a young child asking in church if God created the herb then why can’t we just talk about those and take those. And I would often be told “you know you gotta be quiet. That’s not quite how that works.” Here we are many months later and that is in fact just the way that it works. I begin to share with my friends and family the positive Improvements, I was experiencing and even just sharing some knowledge. During the pandemic, but after I finished my MBA I decided to start an herbalist certification program. I begin to make tinctures, ciders, salves and teas that were made of herbs and roots that curbed and treated symptoms of different every day ailments. During that time I also became a certified Reiki practitioner, meditation teacher and ordained minister. Since then, I’ve been working in and with my community by making and supporting them with herbal remedies and concoctions for their wellness.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has an exactly been the smoothest of roads. With this kind of work, a lot of people are either concerned about certification and hygiene or I get some people who have are only concerned about the spirituality of it all. So I spend a fair amount of time having religious and spiritual conversations with clients and my community that shares, educate, and identifies mutual beliefs.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a certified Reiki practitioner, herbalist, and ordained minister. I work with herbs, roots, oils and flowers to create natural products that help individuals improve their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being through a range of natural healing modalities. I specialize in offering personalized wellness services, including reiki, meditation, herbal consultations, and spiritual coaching.
My product line includes handmade herbal products, body oils, floral waters, tinctures, and magnesium sprays, all crafted with the finest natural ingredients. I also offer custom orders tailored to our clients’ unique needs and preferences.
My proudest moments was the success of of a recent wellness events, where I was able to connect with and support over 20 women in the community. The feedback received and the relationships built during that event have been amazing. .
As a breast cancer survivor and someone who has worked to keep their chronic pain at bay I understand that the healing process is deeply personal and requires a compassionate, individualized approach. I committed to providing a safe, nurturing space for people to explore holistic wellness is at the heart of everything I do. From
personalized consultations, customized products, and my emphasis on education and empowerment ensure that my clients receive the best possible care and support.
My holistic approach, combined with my deep respect for individual journeys, sets Boho Noir apart as a trusted partner in the pursuit of wellness.
What matters most to you? Why?
That people know and understand that natural health and wellness is affordable and accessible no matter where they are in their journey.
People shy away from a lot of natural healing modalities because they believe that it’s only for those of a certain income or has to look a certain way. I want people to know that there are still practitioners who will make grocery trips with you, teach you, come to you and make medicine in your kitchen and give you reiki or sit with you while your kids are napping. This is how we support one another. This is how we build and keep community.
