Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Gidley.
Hi Brittany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Brittany Gidley Photography was founded in 2012… completely on accident. I went to college at Kent State University and got a degree, not in photography, but in nursing. Soon after, I landed my dream job working with premature and surgical needs babies in the Cleveland Clinic NICU.
I had always loved photography and would have a blast creating adorable photo ops to share with the families for my tiniest preemies. It wasn’t long before my love for babies and talent behind the camera came together outside the doors of the NICU. And that’s when ‘BGP’ was born!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I give God ALL of the glory for what He has created in myself and in this business. We blew up in popularity- almost immediately.
Remember, I didn’t go to school for business. I went to school for nursing. So I traded long 12 hour shifts for even longer 18 hour studio days. I was so grateful for the incredible opportunity of being my own boss that I didn’t mind the madness of working 24/7. But to grow, we couldn’t stay a one woman show.
Enter the Dream Team. I got help, and I got it fast. We brought on a full time business manager to handle inquiries, e-mails, employees & the ever so exciting- taxes. We brought on editors to get images polished & galleries back to families- fast! We collaborated with the best bakers, stylists, party planners and contractors in the city to transform our studio into an interactive experience each and every year.
Those relationships blossomed into friendships and step by step we started having an unbeatable team working together into what we have today- every single session is stress free and so much fun for our families!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The best part of my job has very little to do with the resulting images, and everything to do with the memories. That’s why we created Dream Sessions!

Our custom themed Dream Session photo shoots are completely interactive… and immersed in magic! From a rendezvous with real unicorns, to over the top pool parties and private picnics with baby animals on the farm… the sky’s the limit and there’s nothing our Dream Team can’t create.
I want children to have the most magical childhood memories- and that’s exactly what I create every single day!
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
If you are new to ANY small business- this is what you need to know!
Find the work that your soul on fire. It will prevent you from burnout. Now, find a way to do it differently than anybody else in the world! And don’t forget to make time to use those talents to give back to those who need it the most!
For us, the work that sets my soul on fire is giving families the very best memories loving on their babies! I do this by creating over the top Dream Sessions! We give back by volunteering our time to give complimentary NICU sessions to families in the hospital and making their little loves look powerful and healthy- just like they will be soon!
