Today we’d like to introduce you to Brigid Yates
Hi Brigid, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started photographing with film in 2004 in my high school dark room. At the dare of my husbands friend, I started a photography page in 2010 and it has GROWN exponentially since. I now own my own boudoir studio in Delaware, OH sharing and empowering all genders to embrace and love their physical and emotional body. Not only do I photograph boudoir primarily, I have built endless relationships that stem more than 10 years with families as they grow from maternity to end of life memory making. It is my passion/obsession to capture memories that will be around for a lifetime. Often times, the client experience feeds my soul beyond the actual image. As I continue to grow, so does the goals I have slated for myself. I quit my full time corporate job in 2023 and have hit the ground with as much momentum as the Looney Tunes Road Runner character and cannot wait to continue to grow.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Heavens to Betsy NO! But I am not a quitter.
I have been told many times this is simply a hobby and like a lot of photographers and creators, imposter syndrome stops you from moving forward and growing because it is not a career and your images will NEVER be good enough.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am very well known in the boudoir world for client experience and inclusivity. I don’t are WHO you are, your sexy is your story. I am so proud that I can and will make EVERY single being feel safe and confident while shooting with me. I pride myself in the full experience starting with hair/makeup, to outfit choice and catering your session to who you truly are and what you want to convey in your physical/emotional self love journey.
I am set apart by this inclusiveness, simply everyone feels safe
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I suffered from body shame/abuse as a child/adult. I never spoke about that in my brand until very recently. To be in the business, sharing a personal vulnerability with your client helps them feel brave and drives a healing session. I have often referred to my sessions as a type of therapy.
