Check Out Brianna Tate’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Tate.

Hi Brianna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I always had a crafty side to me. Growing up, I was constantly creating and using my imaginative mind. While I was taking business classes at Gateway Technical and Community College, smack dab in the middle of COVID (2020); something sparked inside of me. That’s when Hella Illy was born.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing about becoming a business owner is easy. You know what they say; “if it was easy, everyone would do it.” I believe in using obstacles as learning experiences; that’s how your business is able to grow.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Hella Illy is a custom embroidery business specializing in logos, custom names, sports, cartoon characters & movies, and more. My shop is available through the online platform Etsy, as well as through local pop-up shops. (Keep up with my social media for more information on that.)

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned on my journey is to have patience and understanding. Things don’t always go as planned, and you have to learn how to be okay with that. There’s a lot of trial and error when it comes to running a business (Trust me the amount of product I wasted in the first year would tell you everything you need to know). Especially in this kind of business where you are hand-making every item yourself. Taking the time to slow down and understand the problem at hand will help you solve it so much quicker.
