Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbara Bradford-Williams.
Hi Barbara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
As I looked 3 doors down and saw that vacant storefront by Jbgrill Soulfood. I instantly told my crew about the vacancy and said roll up your sleeves it’s time to go to work. This place will be a great resource center for kids. They will be able to get help with homework, eat snacks and dinner, and do activities.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The major obstacles was actually funding the program. We used 10% of the sales from JBGRILL restaurant to fund the program along with a few donations from a few sponsors…
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
During the pandemic, we realized how important this program was and how it was definitely needed in the community The children grades are improving in school. Their behavior is improving at home. They are learning how
Important it is to eat healthy and exercise. The younger children are learning how to read. All these things are important and it’s being downright here at JBS Lunch and Literacy in Cleveland, Ohio 44105
