Life & Work with Tacqua Davis of Columbus Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tacqua Davis.

Hi Tacqua, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Tacqua Davis is a devoted mother, transformational leader, and the visionary behind My Sistah’s Keeper Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to empowering women through education, support, and sisterhood. Founded originally in 2017 as a grassroots LLC and now officially transitioning into a 501(c)(3), the Foundation serves as a haven for women navigating trauma, instability, or life transitions.

Tacqua’s early life was marked by adversity—she left high school at 15 but later earned her GED in 2000, recognizing the power of education and personal development. Her own transformation became the foundation for her passion to uplift others. Today, she leads with empathy, courage, and a deep understanding of what it means to overcome.

Under her leadership, the organization has led powerful community initiatives, including:

Serving over 1,000 children with school supplies

Supporting over 350 families with Christmas and Thanksgiving boxes

Tacqua is a graduate of Getting Ahead and the Southside Leadership Academy and serves as a United Way Neighborhood Ambassador, where she advocates for safe, healthy communities.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. Fighting autoimmune disease and being a mother. Trying to make a way not only for her and her children but the Sistahood that is My Sistah’s Keeper.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the founder/ ceo of My Sistahs Keeper. Founded in 2017. We host monthly meetings at the Parsons Library every third Sunday of the month. We also host a Community Day/Back-to-School Giveaway with the Worship Center of Central Ohio every year. We give back for Thanksgiving with Love Boxes and Christmas we do a Christmas Giveback.
My CO founder is my sister Terese Evans my right hand. We have worked hard to make My Sistah’s Keeper the sistahood we have today.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Networking is definitely important. Collaboration is how we grow. Not one person or organization can do it all alone. Get out and get your name out there. Link with like minded individuals. Not everyone will be for you or your idea but hold on to the ones that you can both pour into each other.
