We recently had the chance to connect with Rob Taylor and have shared our conversation below.
Rob, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’ve recently started expanding my family. We just had another baby, and another is already on the way. I’ve been downsizing life to be at home as much as possible with the family. That has brought me so much happiness that no venture ever could.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Rob Taylor. I’m a tattoo artist , bike builder, photographer, videographer and content creator. My brand is Rob Taylor tattoos. I own black & grey tattoo in Louisville Kentucky. I host a podcast called Rob Taylor tattoos on YouTube where we tattoo our guests and interview them. The podcast is my current project on the forefront. My goal would be to have each episode be with someone of interest like an athlete or musician etc. episodes drop every Sunday at 7:30 pm est.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I’ve always been rebellious so I did everything opposite of what I was told to do. Got tattoos, didn’t go to school, hung around the wrong people. It somehow all lead to me being successful on my own doing my own thing.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Every project I’ve ever done whether that be a short film or an online series or tattoos or running my own business. So many times I’ve wanted to quit, and I do for a short time. Sometimes that’s for a day and sometimes it’s for a month but when I pick it back up I always move forward with whatever I’m doing.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
I take pride in being authentic. I’m transparent about my life struggles. Mental health issues. Opinions and successes. I would like to think a lot of my following is there because I am authentic instead of the actual content I put out .
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Doing anything I didn’t want to do. I wouldn’t waste any time on anything I didn’t love doing.
