Story & Lesson Highlights with Christopher Summers of Central, Ohio

Christopher Summers shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Christopher, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Who are you learning from right now?
Right now, I’m really learning how to balance scaling my business while being present for my family. I recently became a dad, so everything I do has a new perspective to it. I’m focused on building iShine in a way that not only supports my clients but also creates stability and growth for my family. It’s teaching me patience, adaptability, and how to look at the long game rather than just the quick wins.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Christopher Summers, and I’m the founder of iShine Music Production. I’m a DJ, music producer, and curator who’s passionate about creating unforgettable event experiences. What makes iShine unique is that I don’t just show up and play music — I take time to really understand my clients, their story, and the vibe they want, then I build a soundtrack around that. It’s about tailoring every event so it feels personal and memorable, not cookie-cutter.

Right now, I’m focused on scaling iShine in a way that makes high-quality, professional DJ services more accessible while still keeping that creative, one-of-a-kind experience people come to me for.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I’d say my wife. She believed in me and my vision for iShine even during the times when I second-guessed myself. She saw the bigger picture before I did — that I wasn’t just building a DJ business, but creating something that could impact people and provide for our family. That kind of belief really pushed me to see my own potential more clearly.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me patience and resilience in a way success never could. When things weren’t going the way I wanted with my business, or when I felt the pressure of providing for my family, I had to learn how to stay grounded and keep moving forward without guarantees. Success feels great, but it can make you comfortable. Struggle forces you to grow, adapt, and really appreciate the wins when they come.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yeah, the public version of me is the real me — I don’t really believe in putting on a front. What you see when I’m DJing or working with clients is the same person I am at home. The only difference is that in public, I bring more energy because it’s part of creating an experience. But at the core, I’m the same — genuine, passionate about music, and focused on connecting with people.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m with my family. Becoming a dad shifted everything for me — those quiet moments at home, holding my son or spending time with my wife, that’s when I feel centered. Music is my passion and my career, but family is what grounds me and gives all of it meaning.
