Rising Stars: Meet Tiffany Braxton and Jazmine Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Braxton and Jazmine Davis.

Hi Tiffany and Jazmine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Just like most small businesses started in the last 2-3 years, ours was birthed out of the pandemic. We started planning small events for our friends’ birthdays in backyards and at each other’s houses just to be able to be around each other. Everyone around us kept expressing how we exceeded their expectations and after all the feedback we received we decided to turn it into a business. We started by attending YouTube University (lol) to continue learning different tips and tricks when it comes to event planning. Our goal was to learn as much as we could to bring our client’s vision to life and to help make the process as seamless as possible for them. We still have a lot more to learn but we are very proud of how far we’ve come in a short amount of time. We got to where we are today by marketing ourselves on Instagram and we have gained most of our clientele by word of mouth which has been a blessing.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been the smoothest road. I think with all first-time business owners there are always road bumps along the way. We did start as a group of five but quickly learned that there were too many “cooks in the kitchen.” We just all had different visions, and that is okay but it just didn’t work for one business. So, we made the decision as a group to downsize to two. All five of us are still great friends and agreed this was the right direction for Soirée. Even though we split, they still offer help whenever we need it. We are blessed to have them support us the way they do.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am currently an Accountant for a local insurance company here in Columbus. 10 years ago, someone decided to take a chance on me and I’m glad I accepted. No degree, no experience but they trusted that I’d be good in the accounting field and I will be forever grateful to them. I took that opportunity and worked very hard to get where I am today. As of 4 years ago, I am officially an Accountant. Currently in school (almost done!!!!) so that I can continue to grow, not only in my career but as a person. My drive and ability to learn anything thrown at me are what sets me apart. I work so hard because I want to be able the give the same opportunity, I was given to someone else. No one is ever finished growing and that’s something I always remind myself of. I am striving to be the best version of myself and starting Soirée has been a huge step towards that! – Tiffany

I have worked with the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities for 14 years now as a Teacher Assistant. I just recently switched over to preschool-aged kids with special needs after working as a transition specialist with school-aged students. While working with older children/adults, I dealt with a lot of behaviors and I always asked myself how I could help my students control those behaviors. That’s when I decided to make the switch over to Pre-K. I wanted to be able to help them while they were still young, learning, and growing. My years in this line of work have taught me how to be patient and how to listen to people’s wants and needs. This job isn’t easy and it isn’t for everyone which is what sets me apart from everyone else. I’m so proud of myself and all of the students that I have worked with over the years because all they ever needed was someone to just be there for them. I’m extremely blessed to have worked with such an amazing group of individuals and their amazing families. – Jazmine

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Soirée was started during the pandemic so it was molded around all of the changes Covid-19 created. So, fortunately, Covid didn’t have much of an impact on our business.
