Rising Stars: Meet Ryan Mccloe of West Chester,Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Mccloe

Hi Ryan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was working as a leasing agent for a property management company for about 3 or so years covid taught me as well as many others that we are easily replaceable in a company. I was already interested in pursuing a career as a lash artist and losing my job gave me just the push I needed,
I took a class with Danielle Wilson of Lash Loft Cincy, and practiced on my family and friends throughout the summer while the world was still on lockdown from covid.
I went to school to attain my Certificate as a Esthetician, purchased an LLC and Ladyish Esthetics was born.
It’s now been 5 years since I began this journey and couldn’t be more happy. I current rent a room at Lash Loft Cincy and I love being booked and busy.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I am a single mother of a wonderful and intelligent 17 year old boy and purchased my first home the year before covid started, so failing was not an option. I have worked many jobs and my morals and values never aligned with companies that worked with in the past. I knew owning a business and working for myself was the only way to go.
I have a degree in Merchandising in Fashion, and a Certificate as a Community health worker, so I definitely was not excited to have to go back to school to study and test again. With my amazing support system that helped and encouraged me along the way, I passed with flying colors and aced my state board exams.
I would say the most difficult things that I have faced along the way are really figuring out the odds and ends of running a business, finding clients, and making content in this new age of social media. It also takes a lot for you to force yourself to really grind it out and do everything on your own, there’s no one to report to or no fear of getting fired if you miss your alarm clock. You have to push yourself and your really working 24/7. Content making, marketing, book keeping, networking, editing, keeping up with new trends and styles, the list goes on. Its really like having a second child, but at least the kid sleeps (LOL).

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a licensed esthetician with additional certificates that include lash extensions, dermaplane, brows and more. I offer lash extensions, lash clusters, basic facials, waxing, brow/lash tint, brow/lash lift, and teeth whitening. I am mostly known for my work as a lash artist, 90% of my clients are lash extensions only. My lash extentions sets are classic, wispy, hybrid, volume and mega volume. There are so many new an creative styles, colors and even accessories to lashes that can be added as well.
I am most proud of really making this a full time career. Being able to really survive an live a happy life, be a present mother, and make a living, by enhancing the Ladies natural beauty, and having girl chat all day (LOL). I had a vision that I brought to life and I am so bless. I couldn’t have done a single thing without God and my family.
I think what sets me apart from others the most is; this is more than beauty for me. This is therepy and we just happen to be doing lashes (LOL). These are people that are more than clients, with real emotions and vulnerability. Lady-ish is the freedom to be unapologetically you with no judgment. It’s a creative space to boost your confidence with a little self care and lashes. More clients have become friends, than friends have become clients and I love every bit of it.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I have to give all credit to God; I would be nothing at all without my faith and prayers. If anything my business and even clients have brought me even closer to my faith. He has made sure I wake up every day and I have food on my table every night.
My mother and my son are my backbones. They are the greatest support and cheerleaders any one could ever ask for. My mother has picked up my son for sports, and paid for my schooling, allowed me to use her car to make it to school when I got in an accident, cooked dinner for my son and I if I was going to be late and allowed me to follow every dream I have. She is literally the best mother I could ever ask for. My son is ultimately what I do it all for. I am able to shut down my books an be present for him any time I need. He is my motivation to keep going and to show him how strong his mom is. I want to be an example that whatever you want in life is within reach if you work hard.
I have to give so much credit to Danielle Wilson for not only being my teacher, the shop owner, my mentor, my friend, and the person who believes in me so much. I don’t know where I would be without her help every step of the way. She pushes me harder than I do my own self at times, and she spoils me with anything I need. She is so giving and sweet. She’s not just a shop owner she has become my family, and I am forever grateful to her.
