Rising Stars: Meet Og Ukon of Eastside of Cleveland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Og Ukon

Hi Og, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been a fan of hiphop since I was 5yrs old. My earliest memories were the beginning of the death row releases. As well seeing movies like Boyz in the hood, Menace 2 Society, New Jack city and of coarse juice. It’s like hiphop and movies that became classics til this day just had a hold on me growing up. And being so young exposed to so many things writing became an outlet I was 5yrs old playing Kris Cross “Jump” on repeat on my big wheel I just love hiphop

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Never a smooth road especially being independent. You really have to focus and have drive. I had many wins and losses. I’ve been a rap group and traveled a lot in my early 20s and teenage years. I met a lot folks in this industry on my comeup a few of my friends actually blew up. I also have many connections behind the scenes. it’s all about relationships and a budget. It don’t have to be the biggest budget just set goals and invest in yourself nothing happens overnight

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Im Og Ukon. I’m and hiphop artist/actor from Cleveland Ohio. I’ve started out with a group that separated years ago. I’ve released countless music videos and projects. My biggest accomplishment yet is being featured on Legendary Atlanta “Dj Holliday” platform only because he was my little brother favorite Dj growing up. Just to be on there I know I have an extra hand on my journey. My brother was a huge fan of “Gucci Mane”and Dj Holiday yelling over each track is nostalgia from my younger self

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Very smart and creative I’ve always asked questions without the feeling of embarrassment. I went to the library often and before I got into girls I spent a lot of my summer reading books and watching biographies of people who inspired me. But in my teenage years I guess that was the first time I really was recording music on a regular and actually pursued it and opened up for many of the hottest artist with national hit records almost every other weekend.
